ASA STARS National Tour Accelerates into 2024 with Clyde Hart Memorial 200

The 2024 ASA STARS National Tour is revving up for an exciting kick-off during Florida’s Speedweeks. After concluding its inaugural season, the series is poised to begin on Tuesday, February 13th, with the Clyde Hart Memorial 200 at New Smyrna Speedway as part of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

Honoring track founder Clyde Hart, this race will headline the Super Late Model events over the nine-night Florida Speedweeks, adding to the anticipation for the Daytona 500. The 200-lap event, co-sanctioned with the ASA Southern Super Series and the Sunbelt David Rogers Super Late Models, contributes to the World Series of Asphalt points championship.

Boasting a substantial purse, the Clyde Hart Memorial offers an impressive $15,000 to the winner and $1,500 to start, making it the most lucrative Super Late Model purse in the history of New Smyrna Speedway. Bob Sargent, President of Track Enterprises and founder of the ASA STARS Tour, expressed excitement about starting the season on a high note and took pride in being part of this historic event.

Scheduled strategically before Daytona International Speedway’s on-track activities, the 2024 Clyde Hart Memorial opens the door for current NASCAR drivers to participate. Notably, William Byron competed in last year’s Southern Super Series event, and various NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series drivers, including ASA STARS champion Ty Majeski, have participated in ASA STARS events.

Traditionally held in the summer since its inception in 1999, the Clyde Hart Memorial moved to February during the World Series in 2021, proving successful with a mid-week super-late model race. New Smyrna Speedway track owner Jane Hart expressed readiness to elevate the event further with the ASA STARS National Tour.

The Clyde Hart Memorial, launched in 1999 and won by Florida legend David Rogers, showcases a rich history with notable drivers. Wayne Anderson holds the record with five victories, while William Byron secured the last two wins.
