3F Racing Road to NASCAR: Challenges, Dreams, and the Pursuit of Speed

3F Racing Road to NASCAR: 3F Racing, a new NASCAR Cup Series team hailing from Germany, faced several challenges in its endeavor to debut in the 2023 season. Despite securing visas for its owners in May, the team encountered sponsorship difficulties that prevented it from hitting the track this year.

In July, the team appointed Ryan Vargas as the director of team development. Vargas, a part-time NASCAR competitor in the United States, made several starts in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series with 3F Racing, achieving a best finish of 10th place twice.

Originally, 3F Racing had plans to make its debut at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL in October, followed by an appearance at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Unfortunately, sponsorship arrangements for both events fell through, leading to the team’s absence from the races.

“We worked hard to secure races this year,” said co-owner Dennis Hirtz. “We came incredibly close, but we had some tight deadlines to meet, and unfortunately, the potential sponsor confirmed a few days too late. Otherwise, we would have been on the track.”

Looking ahead, 3F Racing has set its sights on the 2024 season. The team intends to collaborate closely with Richard Childress Racing and Chevrolet, aiming to participate in eight to ten races during the upcoming season. However, the primary challenge remains securing funding for their racing endeavors.

“Our main reliance is on sponsorship,” explained Hirtz. “Therefore, we need strong partners on board to support our efforts.”

While specific race details have not been finalized, 3F Racing has identified potential tracks of interest. “Atlanta Motor Speedway is particularly intriguing because many of our German partners are based in the Atlanta area,” Hirtz noted. Additionally, we are currently in discussions with potential partners on the West Coast, which could open doors to races at tracks like Sonoma Raceway or Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
