Aric Almirola, fully known as Aric Michael Almirola, is an american semi-retired stock car racing driver. In the NASCAR division he competes in the Xfinity Series for the team Joe Gibbs Racing. He used to drive full-time but switched to part-time after the 2023 season. From 2012-2017, he competed for Richard Petty Motorsports in the car no. 43 and Stewart-Haas Racing from 2018-2023 in Ford car no.10.
PERSONAL LIFE
Aric was born on 14th March, 1984 on Eglin Air Force Base, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He is of Cuban descent, Alongwith his parents Ralph Almirola and Bobbi Almirola, and his wife Janice Almirola he has a son named Alex Almirola and a daughter Abbi Almirola. His grandfather, Sam Rodriguez, also used to be driver competing as a direct car sprint driver.
He is a graduate of Hillsborough High School in Tampa and a dropout form University of Central Florida where he pursued Mechanical Engineering. He left it to pursue his career in stock car racing.
CAREER AND EARLY SUCCESS
Aric’s career began very early at the age of 7 when he started competing in Go Kart Racing. He started competing nationally at the age of 14. In his debut season in the World Karting Association, he earned the pole position and stood fourth in the standings that year.
In 2007, He joined Joe Gibbs Racing development program at Ace Speedway, at Atamahaw, New York and won 2 races before finishing 11th in the standing that year. He started his career at NASCAR in 2006, for Spear Motorsports he has made a good name for himself in the field of Nascar.
Taking into account the CUP series, out of 460 races in a 16 year long career he has 3 wins, 96 top10s and 6 pole positions for himself. His first victory came in 2014 Coke Zero 400. In 2023, he finished the season with 22nd position in the standings.
Aric has competed in 108 Xfinity Series races car number 19 for Joe Gibbs Racing, finishing 76th in the 2023 standings. Notably, he claimed his first Xfinity Series victory in 2007 at the AT&T 250 in Milwaukee and secured his most recent win in 2024 at Martinsville. Throughout his Xfinity Series career, he achieved 5 wins, 41 top ten finishes, and 5 pole positions.
The driver participated in 78 races across 8 years in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He won his first truck race at the 2010 Dover 200 in Dover and captured his last victory in the same year at the VFW 200 in Michigan. During his time in the truck series, he secured 2 wins and 38 top ten finishes, though he did not achieve any pole positions.
