Richard Childress Lauds Kostecki: Richard Childress, a former racer himself, admired not just the Gen3 Camaro but also the driving prowess displayed by Kostecki during the recent test run.
“The lap was impressive,” remarked Childress. “The way they push the transaxle to its limits is astounding. The track was a bit slippery, but it was a thrilling experience.”
Childress expressed his confidence in Kostecki’s skills behind the wheel. “I felt at ease with Brodie driving. I knew he was proficient. I even told Brodie I wouldn’t ride with anyone else. Racing back in my day was vastly different from what it is today. These cars are highly advancedsimilar to the ones we race in America,” he added, emphasizing the technological advancements in today’s racing machines.
The relationship forged with Barry Ryan is crucial for both parties. Childress highlighted the mutual learning experience, stating, “It’s a valuable partnership; we’re exchanging knowledge.”
Kostecki’s standout performances in 2023, clinching six wins and securing eight pole positions with a commanding 131-point lead ahead of the final round, have been noteworthy. However, his 22nd place finish in the Indy Cup race due to technical glitches concealed his true speed, according to Childress.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t provide the best support for Brodie,” lamented Childress. “Our RCR team let him down due to a pre-practice issue. Despite that, he performed admirably, even securing an 11th-place qualification. With more practice, he could’ve easily made it to the top five.”
Expressing enthusiasm for Kostecki’s future endeavors, Childress expressed a desire to continue collaborating in 2024. “We hope to have him back next year; he did an outstanding job. Brodie’s potential knows no bounds. He has the talent, commitment, and passion for driving race cars. He’s destined for success wherever he competes.”
