Complete Breakdown of Every Xfinity Finisher at Bristol – Kyle Larson Wins for a Friend

The 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series SciAps 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway was a race full of excitement, emotion, and standout performances. Cup Series star Kyle Larson took home the checkered flag after leading an impressive 276 out of 300 laps. His win was not just a showcase of driving talent but also a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and PR representative, Jon Edwards, who passed away earlier in the week. The race marked the ninth event of the Xfinity Series season and delivered drama from start to finish.

Key Highlights

  • Kyle Larson led 276 of 300 laps to win the 2025 SciAps 300 at Bristol.
  • Larson dedicated emotional victory to late friend and PR rep Jon Edwards after his sudden passing.
  • Carson Kvapil earned second place, tying career-best finish and showing strong pace in final laps.
  • Justin Allgaier finished third and won his record-setting seventh $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus.
  • Multiple wrecks and a 14-minute red flag added drama and strategy challenges throughout the race.

A Powerful Performance from Start to Finish

From the drop of the green flag, Kyle Larson showed he had the car to beat. Driving the No. 17 entry, Larson started strong and quickly took control of the race. By Lap 85, he had already lapped Jeb Burton, who was running in 14th place. Larson was on pace for a dominant Stage 1 victory until a crash involving Sheldon Creed and Brennan Poole brought out a red flag.

Despite the delay of more than 14 minutes, Larson kept his focus. He lost his early lead during the caution, but once pit stops cycled through, Larson regained the top spot for the restart on Lap 97. From there, he continued to show his strength, winning Stage 2 by nearly nine seconds over Justin Allgaier. This marked Larson’s 17th career stage win in the Xfinity Series.

In the final stage, Allgaier briefly took the lead after a Lap 182 restart, but Larson quickly reclaimed it after giving Allgaier a slight nudge in Turn 1. Larson never looked back after that, holding off a late charge from Rookie of the Year contender Carson Kvapil to win by 2.054 seconds.

Carson Kvapil, Justin Allgaier, and the Fight Behind Kyle Larson

While Larson stole the spotlight, there were several strong performances behind him. Carson Kvapil, driving the No. 1 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, finished second—matching his best career result. His car improved with every pit stop, and by the final stretch of the race, he was fast enough to challenge for the win. However, heavy traffic in the closing laps kept him from mounting a serious threat to Larson.

“I felt like toward the end we had a pretty fast car, but there was just so much traffic, it was hard to really get into a good rhythm,” Kvapil said after the race.

Justin Allgaier crossed the line in third place and made headlines of his own. Not only did he finish on the podium, but he also collected his record-setting seventh $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus by being the highest finisher among the eligible drivers. Allgaier stayed in the mix all day, challenging Larson on multiple restarts and even leading briefly in the final stage.

Sammy Smith finished fourth, giving JR Motorsports three drivers inside the top five. Brandon Jones of Joe Gibbs Racing rounded out the top five. Thanks to their top-four finishes, Kvapil, Allgaier, and Smith will compete for the next Dash 4 Cash bonus at Rockingham next weekend, along with Jones.

Crashes, Cautions, and a Test of Focus

The SciAps 300 wasn’t all clean racing. Several incidents affected the race, especially for drivers eligible for the Dash 4 Cash bonus. On Lap 85, Sheldon Creed was hit from behind by Dean Thompson, sending his car spinning off Turn 4. Brennan Poole had nowhere to go and slammed into Creed, ending both of their days in a violent crash. Luckily, both drivers were evaluated and released from the infield care center.

This crash caused the only red flag of the race, lasting 14 minutes and 8 seconds. When the race resumed, strategy shifted as some drivers stayed out while others pitted. Sam Mayer and Ryan Sieg, who chose not to pit, ended up finishing first and second in Stage 1. Larson, after pitting, restarted third and eventually reclaimed the lead by Lap 97.

As the race progressed, another incident played a key role in shaping the final results. On Lap 298, Mason Massey and Justin Allgaier made contact while battling lapped traffic. Massey’s car turned sideways, blocking Allgaier’s line and forcing him to slow down. This allowed Kvapil to slip past into second place, although he could not catch Larson in the final two laps.

Another driver caught in the chaos was William Sawalich, who had been running inside the top 10. His car was eliminated in the crash involving Massey and Allgaier, ending what could have been a solid finish.
