Joe Gibbs Racing driver Ty Gibbs is arriving at the Talladega Superspeedway, the series’ largest track, following his best performance of the 2025 season—a third-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. This result has propelled him from 34th to 20th in the championship standings over the last three races, showcasing his determination and growth on the track.
Gibbs’ recent success is noteworthy, as he also achieved a ninth-place finish at Darlington Raceway prior to Bristol. This marks the first time in 2025 that the 22-year-old former NASCAR Xfinity Series champion has secured back-to-back top-10 finishes, a feat he last accomplished last summer with strong performances at Michigan International Speedway and Daytona International Speedway.
The improvement points to a significant turnaround for Gibbs and his No. 54 JGR Toyota team, which has seen a change in leadership with new crew chief Tyler Allen and fresh crew members. During the qualifying rounds at Talladega, Gibbs stood out as the only Toyota driver to advance to the second round, and he is set to start the race in 10th position on Sunday.
“For us, I feel the results have shown for sure,” Gibbs remarked, reflecting on the team’s progress. “But there is not a time where I’ve felt I was down on my team or was bummed out. I just think it’s part of the process; we have a new team, and I think our guys are really good. I have a lot of faith in our guys.” He emphasized that while improvements take time, he remains confident in his team’s capabilities.
With Ty Gibbs showing improvement at Talladega Superspeedway, the race on Sunday is drawing attention not only for his recent results but also for a potential turning point in his season. Enthusiasts and analysts alike are eager to see if Gibbs can build on this momentum and compete at an even higher level as the season progresses. The excitement surrounding his performance suggests that this may be the catalytic moment he needs to rise further in the standings.
