Denny Hamlin Slams Joey Logano’s Fiery Rant at Teammate Austin Cindric at Talladega

Joey Logano, a renowned three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, expressed his displeasure with Team Penske teammate Austin Cindric during the Jack Link’s 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Logano was notably upset as the race reached a crucial moment, accusing Cindric of holding back on the frontstretch, a move that let Bubba Wallace clinch the stage win. The incident, occurring towards the end of Stage 2, led Logano to unleash a fiery criticism over the radio.

Adding his voice to the mix, Denny Hamlin shared his perspective on the matter during Monday’s “Actions Detrimental” podcast. Hamlin questioned the justification of Logano’s outburst, suggesting it was blown out of proportion. “What is it about these Penske guys that lose their mind? I mean, he just ripped Austin a new one,” Hamlin noted. He expressed disbelief that emotions reached such a boiling point over Cindric’s decision not to advance recklessly. According to Hamlin, Logano’s reaction would have been warranted if Cindric had helped an opponent gain ground. Hamlin further observed, “These guys got some wires crossed when they put that helmet on. It’s wild.”

The emotional charge on the track is familiar to NASCAR fans, but Logano’s temper, directed at his own teammate, was unusual. His frustration boiled over, “Way to go Austin, way to go, you dumb fu*k!” Logano exclaimed, captured by Jeff Gluck of The Athletic. Such heated language underscored the tension between teammates and the stakes of the race.

Cindric, however, had his moment of redemption. After weathering the verbal storm from Logano, Cindric emerged victorious, narrowly beating Ryan Preece with a 0.022-second lead. Significantly, both Preece and Logano faced disqualification post-race following inspection failures, further complicating the day’s tensions.

As the dust settles, the event at Talladega highlights the volatility and intense competition inherent in NASCAR. The interactions among team members, particularly those with fiery on-track rivalries, are closely watched. This incident not only underscores the heat of competition but also reflects on the dynamics within Team Penske. Looking ahead, it raises questions about how teams manage such high-stakes emotionally charged situations. The race at Talladega serves as a reminder of the fine line between teamwork and individual passion. As for Austin Cindric, his victory under such pressure solidifies his presence in the NASCAR landscape, showcasing resilience under scrutiny.
