Kyle Larson Jokes About PA Posse Rivalry, Names Comedian Shane Gillis as His Favorite

Kyle Larson took the racing world by surprise this past weekend with a playful jab directed at the Pennsylvania Posse, all while elevating comedian Shane Gillis as his favorite from the storied group. The NASCAR Cup Series star, fresh off his appearance at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, shared a lighthearted moment during his visit to Birmingham, where he attended Gillis’s comedy show alongside fellow driver Chase Briscoe.

On Sunday morning, Kyle Larson posted a photo to social media, posing with Shane Gillis and captioning the image, “Only PA Posse guy I like.” The comment quickly caught the attention of fans and members of the dirt racing community, as Larson’s playful rivalry with the Pennsylvania Posse—well-known for their dominance and loyalty in sprint car racing—took on a new, humorous dimension.

Shane Gillis, a native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and the star of Netflix’s “Tires,” has long been a vocal supporter of dirt racing in his home state. His passion was unmistakable last May when he attended a race at Williams Grove Speedway, sharing the experience on social media. Fans have since spotted Gillis frequently donning racing merchandise, including shirts featuring Kyle Larson’s No. 57 Sprint Car, further strengthening the bond between racing and comedy.

Kyle Larson’s career has seen him claim victories at Pennsylvania’s most iconic tracks, including Williams Grove Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, Port Royal Speedway, Grandview Speedway, Lernerville Speedway, and BAPS Motor Speedway. As the 2020 PA Speedweek champion, he has consistently proven that he can challenge the very best racers that the region has to offer.

In the recent “DIRT II: A Season With High Limit Racing” series, Kyle Larson provided deeper context for the PA Posse rivalry, stating, “They’ve got a really good local scene that pays well. That’s why you see a lot of Pennsylvanian drivers not really travel and they get picked on for not leaving the porch. But I think a big reason why they don’t leave the porch is because they know they won’t do good, so they can make a decent living doing it.”

The rivalry is set to intensify as High Limit Racing, co-owned by Kyle Larson, brings its top-tier sprint car competition to Pennsylvania in May, highlighted by an anticipated return to Grandview Speedway on May 20, followed by three days of racing during the Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway from May 23 to 25. As Larson’s good-natured banter resonates with fans and competitors alike, anticipation is building for the next chapter in this storied rivalry, leaving both sides eager to see who can claim bragging rights when the dust settles.
