As his truck struggled, Hocevar pushed his Spire Motorsports teammate Busch across the finish line, successfully fending off pressure from Gio Reggiero and seasoned competitor Ben Rhodes. Their collective effort cemented Busch’s 68th career Truck Series triumph and his ninth victory at the 1.54-mile Echopark Speedway.
Corey Heim, the defending Truck Series champion, completed the top five and voiced his dissatisfaction over the race being shortened by rain. Reflecting on his approach, Hocevar made it clear that the decision to assist Busch was strategic rather than solely competitive.
“Yeah. I had no shot, you know, to win the race. So if I wasn’t gonna have a shot. I was going to make sure the company had a shot. And yeah, that was great. Yeah. I went over to just high-five them because I thought it’d be a good picture, be good for the marketing team and good for the social. That was a business decision right there to do that. So I had fun,”

In a further twist to his busy weekend, qualifying for the upcoming Cup race on Sunday was cancelled due to insufficient lighting. The grid was set using the metric system, assigning Busch and Hocevar the 14th and 15th starting spots respectively.
