Ty Dillon Out: New NASCAR Truck Series Driver Announced

Ty Dillon, a regular competitor in top-tier stock car racing, made his return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at EchoPark Speedway in 2024. Now, with the next Truck Series event approaching, Kaulig Racing has announced a new driver for the No. 25 Ram, marking another change in this evolving season and shifting the focus of the Ty Dillon NASCAR Truck Series storyline.

Kaulig Racing’s Rotating Lineup in the Truck Series

This season marks Kaulig Racing’s debut partnership with Ram Trucks, fielding five full-time entries in the Truck Series for the first time. The No. 25 Ram, however, does not currently have a permanent driver and has seen multiple competitors in the early races. At Daytona International Speedway, Tony Stewart, returning to the Truck Series after a long hiatus since 2005, drove the first race but was sidelined following an accident.

Ty Dillon stepped in for the next event at EchoPark Speedway—previously known as Atlanta Motor Speedway—and delivered a solid 11th-place finish. Despite speculation about Stewart’s potential return, no confirmation has been made. In the meantime, Dillon will continue his primary Cup Series responsibilities for Kaulig Racing, including upcoming participation at Circuit of the Americas.

Colin Braun To Pilot the No. 25 Ram in St. Petersburg

As the team continues to rotate drivers, Kaulig Racing revealed that Colin Braun would become the third different driver to compete in the No. 25 truck in as many races this season. Braun brings significant experience as a three-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship title holder and formerly competed full-time in the Truck Series, including a victory at Michigan International Speedway in 2009 for Roush Fenway Racing.

Although Braun last participated in a Truck Series race in 2011—when he made two starts for Billy Ballew Motorsports—his history includes a fifth-place overall points finish in 2009 and demonstrated consistency on the circuit. Braun’s latest opportunity puts him at the center of a historic moment as he prepares to drive in NASCAR’s inaugural street race for the Truck Series on the roads of St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday, February 28.

Full-Time Drivers and Future Plans for Kaulig Racing

While the attention is on the rotating drivers in the No. 25 Ram, Kaulig Racing’s confirmed full-time lineup includes Daniel Dye in the No. 10, Brenden Queen driving the No. 12, Mini Tyrell—Ram: Race for the Seat winner—in the No. 14, and Justin Haley piloting the No. 16 entry. Aside from the St. Petersburg event, only Carson Ferguson has been confirmed for another start in the No. 25 Ram, with his race scheduled for Martinsville Speedway in October. Ferguson, like Tyrell, participated in the Ram: Race for the Seat program.

The Significance of the St. Petersburg Street Race

This upcoming weekend will be a milestone as the Craftsman Truck Series competes on a street circuit for the first time in its history. Fox will broadcast the OnlyBulls Green Flag 150 live from St. Petersburg, with coverage beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 28. Many fans and competitors will be watching closely as Colin Braun tackles the unique challenge, adding new dynamics to the Ty Dillon NASCAR Truck Series narrative and providing an important test for Kaulig Racing’s evolving team strategy in their partnership with Ram Trucks.
