Shane van Gisbergen Transition: Relocating for Racing in the USA

Shane van Gisbergen Transition: Shane van Gisbergen’s jaw-dropping debut victory in NASCAR earlier this year at Chicago not only stunned motorsport enthusiasts worldwide but also marked the beginning of a pivotal chapter in his racing career.

The three-time Supercars champion’s unexpected triumph in the NASCAR Cup Series didn’t just raise eyebrows; it laid the groundwork for a significant move to the United States. Securing a development deal with Trackhouse Racing, van Gisbergen is now primed for an extensive stint in various NASCAR divisions throughout the upcoming year. His eyes are set on a full-fledged Cup Series campaign slated for 2025.

However, the impact of his victorious debut extends beyond the racing spectrum. It was instrumental in securing van Gisbergen a visa, endorsing his ‘extraordinary abilities’ and granting him and his partner, Jess Dane, the opportunity to permanently relocate to the States.

Navigating through logistical intricacies, van Gisbergen is drawing insights from esteemed personalities like IndyCar luminary Scott McLaughlin and Chris Wilson, previously associated with DJR and now stationed in the US with Penske, for invaluable advice.

“We’re packing up in just over two weeks,” van Gisbergen revealed. “Moving to America, settling in, and then off to England with Jess’ family before diving back into the grind to absorb as much as I can.

“The preparations are wild. Sorting out the social security number, bank accounts, visas—it feels like a maze where each step depends on the other. Scotty has been a pillar of support, and so has Chris Wilson, who transitioned to Penske in the States. I’m fortunate to have received invaluable guidance from numerous sources.

“I’ve been in constant conversation with Scotty; although, he has a bit of an edge with his wife being American, smoothing certain aspects. Yet, the process remains a series of hoops to jump through.”
