Bayley Alexander Currey was born on October 29, 1996, in Driftwood, Texas. He grew up in a household with deep ties to motorsports, as his father was a race car driver, which helped shape his early interest in the sport. While in high school, Currey worked as a busser at The Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood, balancing his job with his growing commitment to racing. He later attended Texas State University, continuing to develop both as a student and as a young driver.

Currey’s introduction to competitive racing came in 2003 when he began go-kart racing. He quickly progressed through the grassroots ranks, moving on to Bandolero cars and eventually transitioning to pro late models at Central Texas Speedway. Early Career (2017–2018)

Currey made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut in 2017 at Martinsville Speedway in the Texas Roadhouse 200, driving the No. 50 truck for Beaver Motorsports. The opportunity came through a personal friend, and Currey started 27th before finishing 25th. He added another start later that season at Phoenix, where he drove the No. 83 for Copp Motorsports and survived multiple incidents to finish tenth. A third start at Homestead ended early due to an engine failure.

In 2018, Currey expanded his Truck Series schedule with Copp Motorsports, running 13 races and posting a best finish of 16th at Las Vegas in the fall. That same year, he also made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Texas Motor Speedway with B. J. McLeod Motorsports, qualifying 23rd and finishing 20th. He later joined JP Motorsports for additional Xfinity starts, continuing to gain valuable experience in the national series.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Breakthrough (2019–2022)

In February 2019, Currey announced a partial Truck Series schedule with Vizion Motorsports in the No. 35 Toyota Tundra. Later that year, he joined Niece Motorsports for the Gander RV 150 at Pocono Raceway and went on to finish a strong sixth at Michigan International Speedway. After his Texas debut, Currey ran a large portion of the 2018 Xfinity schedule with JP Motorsports. In August 2019, he was indefinitely suspended by NASCAR after failing a drug test, which he attributed to a banned ingredient called Octodrine in a pre-workout supplement. Currey apologized publicly, entered NASCAR’s mandatory Road to Recovery program, and was reinstated on September 18. He returned to competition at the Charlotte Roval.

In 2020, Currey joined Mike Harmon Racing and ran much of the Xfinity schedule in the No. 74. He was elevated to a full-time seat with the team in 2021, and at Phoenix Raceway he recorded a career-best seventh-place finish for both himself and the organization. In 2022, he moved to JD Motorsports, where he drove the No. 4 full-time with sponsorship from the Swedish rock band Ghost at the spring Phoenix race. His final Xfinity start came at Phoenix in 2023.

NASCAR Cup Series (2019–2021)

Currey made his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut in March 2019 at ISM Raceway in the TicketGuardian 500, partnering with Rick Ware Racing. He returned to Ware and the Cup Series in May 2020 at Bristol in the Supermarket Heroes 500 and later that year stepped in for J. J. Yeley during the Go Bowling 235 on the Daytona road course when Yeley needed medical attention. His final Cup start came in 2021 at Atlanta in the Quaker State 400, again driving for Rick Ware Racing.

Niece Motorsports Era (2023–Present)

Currey rejoined Niece Motorsports for a partial Truck Series schedule in 2023, producing three top-five finishes over the course of the season. On October 26, 2023, the team announced that he would drive the No. 41 truck full-time in 2024, though the regular season proved challenging and he did not record a top-ten finish, missing the playoffs as a result.

He returned to Niece on a part-time basis in 2025, starting the year in the No. 41 truck. During the season, he was in contention to win at Atlanta and later scored his first career stage win at Bristol Motor Speedway in April.
