Early Life and Background
Brennan Cole Poole was born on April 11, 1991, in Folsom, California. He lived there until the age of seven before his family relocated to Texas. He was raised outside of Houston, where he developed an early love for racing and began competing at his home track of Houston Raceway Park.
Poole graduated from Woodlands Christian Academy a year early in 2008, at the age of seventeen. During his teenage years, he drove Dirt Modifieds in the IMCA ranks from 2007 to 2008 for his family’s team. He scored seven wins in 2008 and captured the Texas World Dirt Track Championship. He also ran select Dirt Late Model races alongside his IMCA schedule.
Poole earned the nickname “The Bull” early in his career, a moniker that reflected his aggressive driving style and his ability to charge from the rear of the field in several events.
Path to NASCAR
From 2009 to 2010, Poole raced Late Model Stock Cars in the UARA-Stars ranks, driving the No. 5 for Jamie Yelton. He scored the Rookie of the Year title in 2009 and won the Most Popular Driver Award in both 2009 and 2010. In 2010, he picked up his first win at Tri-County Motor Speedway and went on to score five more at Hickory, Lonesome Pine Speedway, Kingsport Speedway, Dillon Motor Speedway, and Greenville-Pickens Speedway, finishing runner-up in the points.
In 2011, Poole formed his own race team driving the No. 7. He scored four wins that season at Hickory Motor Speedway, Kingsport, Rockingham Speedway, and Lonesome Pine, clinching the UARA-Stars championship at Rockingham after locking the title a week early at Concord Speedway.
That same year, Poole made his ARCA Racing Series debut at Salem Speedway, driving the No. 55 Chevrolet for Venturini Motorsports. He led 31 laps and won in his debut, signaling his readiness to climb the NASCAR ladder.
Brennan Poole Career
Early Career (2007–2010)
Poole’s early career centered on Dirt Modifieds and Late Model Stock Cars. Between 2007 and 2008, he built his résumé with Houston Raceway Park as his home track, earning seven IMCA wins in 2008 and the Texas World Dirt Track Championship.
His transition to Late Model Stock Cars from 2009 to 2010 produced immediate results. He captured the UARA-Stars Rookie of the Year title in 2009 and was named Most Popular Driver in both 2009 and 2010. By the end of 2010, he held the records for most UARA-Stars Late Model Series wins in a single season and most consecutive wins in a single season, both marks set with six total wins and three consecutive victories.
ARCA Menards Series Breakthrough (2011–2014)
Poole joined Venturini Motorsports as a development driver in 2011 and won his very first ARCA start at Salem Speedway. He ran three more races that year in the No. 25 car, scoring a pole and a top-five finish at Pocono Raceway. In 2012, he ran the full schedule for Venturini, earning fifteen top-tens, three poles, and back-to-back wins at Elko Speedway and Pocono Raceway while finishing third in points.
Over the next two years, Poole ran part-time for Venturini, adding more wins along the way. At the Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack, he crossed the line third but was awarded the win after post-race inspection determined that two drivers ahead of him had jumped the final restart. In 2014, he returned to Pocono Raceway and led 31 of 50 laps before going on to score a victory at Kentucky Speedway in his final ARCA start, a win that was later encumbered after his car was found to be in violation of the minimum roof height rule. He finished his ARCA career with 6 wins, 27 top-tens, and 4 poles.
NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Breakthrough (2015–Present)
Poole made his NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series debut at Las Vegas in 2015 driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. During his rookie year, he scored two top-tens and ten top-fifteen finishes, and was famously parked by NASCAR at Iowa Speedway after intentionally turning J. J. Yeley into the outside wall. In 2016, he moved into the No. 48 full-time with sponsorship from DC Solar and finished eighth in points with seventeen top-tens and four top-fives. At Talladega, he crossed the line first but was scored third after a last-lap caution review.
He returned to the No. 48 in 2017 and won his first career series pole at Daytona International Speedway in July. He advanced to the Round of 8 in the Xfinity Series playoffs but fell out early after contact with Caesar Bacarella. He finished sixth at Homestead and ended the year sixth in points. Following legal disputes with Chip Ganassi Racing and Spire Sports + Entertainment that were settled out of court in 2018, Poole spent five seasons away from full-time competition, running partial schedules for Mike Harmon Racing and JD Motorsports before returning to a full-time ride with JD Motorsports in 2023.
In November 2023, Poole signed with Alpha Prime Racing to drive the No. 44 Chevrolet full-time. He nearly won at Talladega in April 2024, leading on the back straightaway before losing momentum and finishing fifth, only the second top-five in Alpha Prime Racing history. In 2025, he scored a fourth-place finish at Martinsville, the first top-five for Alpha Prime Racing at a non-drafting track in their history. On November 18, 2025, Poole was announced as returning to Alpha Prime for the 2026 season.
Craftsman Truck Series (2015–2023)
Poole made his Truck Series debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2015 driving the No. 21 Chevrolet for GMS Racing, qualifying fifteenth and finishing eleventh. He returned for a one-off with NextGen Motorsports in 2018 before announcing a full-time 2019 schedule with On Point Motorsports in the No. 30. That season produced his best Truck finish of second at Charlotte Motor Speedway and his first top-ten at Texas Motor Speedway, despite the team scaling back due to sponsorship concerns.
He continued part-time with On Point in 2020 and 2021, and later drove part-time for G2G Racing in 2022 and 2023, including a strong twentieth-place run at Kansas that marked G2G’s best non-superspeedway finish to that point.
NASCAR Cup Series (2020–Present)
Poole announced in December 2019 that he would race full-time in the Cup Series for Premium Motorsports in the No. 15 for 2020. His Cup debut came at the 2020 Daytona 500. His best Cup finish came at the 2020 YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, where he crossed the line eleventh but was scored ninth after penalties were issued to other competitors.
In 2023, Poole returned to the Cup Series at Dover Motor Speedway driving the No. 15 for Rick Ware Racing as a substitute for the suspended Cody Ware. He has continued to make selected Cup starts in subsequent seasons, including a 2025 start at Pocono Raceway with NY Racing Team in the No. 44 Chevrolet.
Alpha Prime Racing Era (2023–Present)
Poole joined Alpha Prime Racing on November 9, 2023, to drive the No. 44 Chevrolet full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, with Finance Pro Plus sponsoring twenty races and Macc Door Systems sponsoring ten. His tenure has steadily built momentum for the young organization, highlighted by his near-win at Talladega in 2024 and a Martinsville fourth-place finish in 2025 that earned him a Dash 4 Cash berth at Bristol, his first since 2016.
On October 31, 2024, Alpha Prime announced Poole’s return for 2025, and on November 18, 2025, the team confirmed he would be back for the 2026 season. In the 2026 season opener at Daytona, Poole rallied from a first-lap spin to fight for the win on the final lap before settling for a twelfth-place finish.
Driving Style and Strengths
Known as “The Bull” for his charge-from-the-back style, Poole has built a reputation as an aggressive, opportunistic racer. His career has shown particular strength on superspeedways, with near-misses at Talladega highlighting his ability to thrive in pack racing. Off the track, his analytical side has been sharpened by years serving as a consultant, spotter, and coach with Venturini Motorsports, including spotting for Erik Jones’ ARCA win at Berlin Raceway in 2013.
Notable Races and Milestones
Signature moments include his ARCA debut win at Salem in 2011, his first Xfinity Series pole at Daytona in 2017, his 2024 Talladega near-win with Alpha Prime Racing, and his 2025 Martinsville fourth-place finish that broke new ground for his team. His 2011 UARA-Stars championship, won as both driver and owner, remains a defining career milestone.
