Lavar Scott Bio
Lavar Stephon Scott, born on September 6, 2003, is an American professional stock car racing driver from Carneys Point Township, New Jersey. He has competed full-time in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 6 Chevrolet SS for Rev Racing, and has also made part-time starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Alpha Prime Racing. Scott is a recognized member of NASCAR’s Driver Development Program, which has supported his rise through the sport’s developmental ladder. Over the course of his young career, he has become one of the more closely watched young talents coming out of the Rev Racing pipeline.
Early Life and Background
Lavar Stephon Scott grew up in Carneys Point Township, New Jersey, a small community near the Delaware border. Racing ran in his family from an early age. His mother was a drag racing driver who held a license to compete in the NHRA, and his grandfather also raced cars. An older brother introduced him to the sport, and the two siblings competed together in quarter midget racing cars at Airport Speedway in New Castle, Delaware, when Lavar was just five years old.
Scott attended Penns Grove High School, where he competed on the wrestling team, and later graduated from Salem County Vocational Technical Schools in 2021. He counts fellow African-American NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace and Northeastern short-track veteran Steve Park among his inspirations, having followed similar grassroots paths in dirt and short-track racing. Scott has also been open about his close friendship with fellow Rev Racing alumnus and NASCAR driver Rajah Caruth.
Path to NASCAR
Scott’s path toward the NASCAR national series ladder began in quarter midgets and local dirt events around the Delaware Valley. In 2021 and 2022, he drove for Rev Racing in Legends car racing and late model competition at short tracks such as Hickory Motor Speedway. He won his first late model race in 2021 at Hickory, an early sign of his potential on asphalt.
That same year, Scott ventured south of the border for two FB Bhon Mikel’s Truck Series races in Mexico, competing alongside Rev Racing teammate Regina Sirvent. He won one of those international events, further building his résumé. On January 13, 2023, Rev Racing announced that Scott would drive full-time in the ARCA Menards Series East and part-time in the main ARCA Menards Series in 2023, piloting the No. 6 car. He also ran the season-opener at Daytona in Rev Racing’s No. 2 Chevrolet, filling in for the then-underage Andrés Pérez de Lara.
Lavar Scott Career
Early Career (2021–2022)
During his teenage years, Scott balanced high school athletics with a budding racing career. His work with Rev Racing placed him in Legends cars and late models across the southeastern short-track scene, with Hickory Motor Speedway serving as a primary classroom. The 2021 late model victory at Hickory was his first official win in a stock car-style machine and signaled his readiness for the next step up the ladder.
His two-race stint in Mexico’s FB Bhon Mikel’s Truck Series broadened his experience on road courses and ovals outside the United States. Coming away with a win in one of those starts gave Scott international credibility and helped earn him a full-time ARCA opportunity for 2023.
ARCA Menards Series Breakthrough (2023–2025)
Scott’s first ARCA Menards Series start came in the 2023 BRANDT 200 at Daytona International Speedway. He raced full-time in the ARCA Menards Series East that season, posting 15 top-ten finishes and a best championship result of third. He also combined for several main-series ARCA starts through the four combination events shared with the East Series.
In December 2023, Rev Racing confirmed that Scott would contest the full ARCA Menards Series slate in 2024 aboard the No. 6 Chevrolet. He delivered a strong sophomore campaign, recording eleven top-fives and fifteen top-tens on his way to a second-place finish in the final standings. Returning to the same ride in 2025, Scott again finished second in points, this time with eleven top-fives and sixteen top-tens, capping his run with a start in the Owens Corning 200 at Toledo. Across his ARCA career, he accumulated 36 top-ten finishes without a victory.
Scott also made select ARCA Menards Series West starts, beginning with the 2023 Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 100 at Phoenix Raceway and ending with the 2025 General Tire 150 at Phoenix, producing two top-ten results.
Alpha Prime Racing Era (2025–Present)
In July 2025, it was announced that Scott would attempt his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with Alpha Prime Racing in two events behind the wheel of the No. 45 Chevrolet Camaro SS. His first national-series start came in the 2025 BetRivers 200 at Dover Motor Speedway. On December 8, 2025, Alpha Prime Racing confirmed that Scott would move into the No. 45 full-time for the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season.
His partial 2025 Xfinity campaign ended with a 54th-place position in the final standings, a learning year against more experienced competition. The promotion to a full-time ride with Alpha Prime Racing marks a major step in Scott’s national-series trajectory.
Driving Style and Strengths
Scott’s background in quarter midgets, dirt racing, and short-track late models has made him comfortable in tight, physical racing. He has shown consistency on intermediate ovals, posting top-ten finishes in bunches across the ARCA schedule. His Rev Racing tenure has prepared him for the longer runs and tire management demands of national-series competition.
Notable Races and Milestones
Scott’s first ARCA start at Daytona in 2023 and his first Xfinity Series start at Dover in 2025 both stand as career milestones. Two consecutive second-place ARCA points finishes in 2024 and 2025 reinforce his reputation as a title contender at the development level.
Lavar Scott Career Wins
Lavar Scott has built much of his résumé on consistency rather than outright victories. He is verified to have won a late model race at Hickory Motor Speedway in 2021 and one FB Bhon Mikel’s Truck Series event in Mexico the same year.
ARCA Menards Series Highlights
Across his combined ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East campaigns, Scott has notched 36 top-ten finishes in the main ARCA Menards Series and 15 in the East Series. His most recent ARCA start came in the 2025 Owens Corning 200 at Toledo.
Other Wins and Performances
Outside of ARCA, Scott’s two verified wins came during his Rev Racing development years. His lone Truck Series win in Mexico highlighted his readiness for stock car competition on a broader stage.

Lavar Scott Family
Family Background and Racing Lineage
Scott’s entry into motorsports was a family affair. His mother was an NHRA-licensed drag racing driver, and his grandfather also raced cars. An older brother competed alongside him in quarter midgets at Airport Speedway, helping shape his earliest memories behind the wheel.
Personal Life
Scott remains connected to his hometown of Carneys Point Township, New Jersey. He has been clear that he is not related to pioneering NASCAR driver Wendell Scott, despite the shared surname. Outside of racing, he competed in wrestling and outdoor track at Penns Grove High School.
2025 Season Performance
The 2025 season saw Scott complete his final full-time ARCA Menards Series campaign with Rev Racing. He finished second in the championship standings for the second consecutive year, amassing eleven top-fives and sixteen top-tens in the No. 6 Chevrolet. The year served as a sendoff to his developmental tenure and a springboard into national-series competition.
Mid-season, Scott made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with Alpha Prime Racing in the No. 45 Chevrolet Camaro SS, beginning with the BetRivers 200 at Dover. While his part-time Xfinity schedule ended with a 54th-place result in the final standings, the experience gave him valuable seat time against veteran Cup-affiliated talent. His prior two ARCA runner-up finishes had already drawn attention from national-series teams.
Looking ahead, the December 8, 2025 announcement that Alpha Prime Racing would field Scott full-time in the No. 45 for the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season set the tone for his next chapter. The partnership reflects years of development through Rev Racing and NASCAR’s Driver Development Program.
