HISTORY

Inaugurated in 1953, Five Flags Speedway marked its opening year by hosting a Grand National race, now known as the NASCAR Cup Series. Herb Thomas clinched victory behind the wheel of his Fabulous Hudson Hornet, etching his name into the track’s history books.

Throughout its storied existence, Five Flags has welcomed various prestigious tours, showcasing the diverse landscape of motorsports. Among these notable events are the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races in 2013 and 2014, the NASCAR Southeast Series spanning from 1991 to 1997, and the ARCA Racing Series from 1992 to 1996. Additionally, the track has seen action from the ASA National Tour in 2002 and the CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series from 2001 to 2003.

This half-mile paved oval track, situated on Pine Forest Road, boasts a rich history of hosting various local classes and regional touring series throughout its regular racing season, which typically spans from March to October.
