NASCAR Xfinity Series Drama: No. 00 Stewart-Haas Racing Faces Penalty and Challenges

NASCAR Xfinity Series Drama:  Stewart-Haas Racing team got fined after a pre-race check at Michigan International Speedway. This is another unexpected turn in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. On Wednesday, the officials took the team’s front lip. The people in charge reacted in a really tough manner.

The crew chief, Jonathan Toney, had to pay a hefty fine of $25,000 due to the penalties. Both the team and the driver, Cole Custer, lost points at the same time. The team lost 20 points important to the owner, and Custer dropped 20 points valuable to the driver. Also, as part of the punishment, they had five crucial playoff points deducted from their overall tournament score.

At the NASCAR R&D Center in Concord, North Carolina, the team’s splitter was thoroughly examined, and as a result, the violation was discovered. Some parts of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Rule Book, specifically Sections 14.4.3.C&H, were discovered to need to be fixed. In Section C, it’s super important to use splitters precisely as they come from the maker. The picture displays the rules and measurements that must be adhered to. Section H states that splitters should not have rounded edges.

Despite the defeat, Cole Custer is currently holding the fourth position in the standings for the regular season. However, he is currently trailing John Hunter Nemechek by 106 points, as Nemechek is currently leading the race.

This year in the Xfinity Series, Custer has experienced many thrilling events. The driver, who is 25 years old, had a great comeback in the Cup Series after competing for three full seasons. They won races in Portland and Chicago. In the 2020 Cup Series season, he won the special Rookie of the Year award. He has made a great return in Xfinity racing by winning 12 races in the series. Seven of those wins happened in 2019.

Now that the penalty situation is calming down, everyone is focusing on the upcoming race on the Indianapolis Road Course. The Pennzoil 150, sponsored by Advance Auto Parts, is all set to happen on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET. You can catch the races on the USA Network, IMS Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, or the NBC Sports app. More and more people are getting hyped up for the next super cool part in the Xfinity Series story.
