Halmar Friesen Racing Revamps Team for 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series

Halmar Friesen Racing Revamps Team: Halmar Friesen Racing is gearing up for the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, instituting backstage adjustments aiming to elevate the performance of the No. 52 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.

The team unveiled a significant move this Tuesday with the announcement that Jimmy Villeneuve assumes the role of crew chief for the No. 52 squad in the upcoming season. Villeneuve previously held the position of crew chief for the No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team during the 2023 season.

“I am genuinely looking forward to collaborating with Stewart Friesen,” said Villeneuve in the team’s press release. “He’s a winner across multiple racing disciplines—Trucks, Dirt Modifieds—and practically anything he’s taken the wheel of. My aim is to synergize with the exceptional team he currently commands and restore HFR and Stewart to a championship-contending force.”

A New Hampshire native, Villeneuve boasts an impressive 20-year tenure in the sport, having previously contributed at Wood Brothers Racing and Kevin Harvick, Inc., prior to his stint with KBM.

In addition, the organization has welcomed Dustin Dunn as the team’s race engineer. Much like Villeneuve, Dunn arrives from the Kyle Busch Motorsports stable. Armed with a Mechanical Engineering degree from UNC Charlotte, Dunn previously served as the race engineer for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing before his tenure at Kyle Busch Motorsports.

Further bolstering the squad, Tim Packman, a seasoned figure with three decades in motorsports, steps in as the team’s commercial and communications director. Packman’s multifaceted background spans journalism, announcing, track promotion, and public relations representation, bringing a wealth of experience in media relations to the team.

Stewart Friesen, set to once again take the wheel of the No. 52 truck in 2024, expresses confidence in the team’s readiness for the upcoming challenges.

To say I’m eagerly anticipating the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season is an understatement,” remarked Stewart Friesen. “Bringing aboard these three seasoned professionals will undoubtedly propel us towards the goals we’ve been striving for in recent years. We carefully considered numerous candidates for these roles, ensuring we’ve secured the best fit for HFR. I have a deep-rooted passion for winning and firmly believe Jimmy V and Dustin will play a pivotal role alongside our already stellar team.”

Despite finishing sixth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings in both 2021 and 2022, Friesen concluded the 2023 campaign in 12th position.

However, despite the drop in final points standing, the team holds its head high for their efforts in 2023, ready to charge ahead with renewed vigor in 2024.

“I take immense pride in what the HFR team accomplished in 2023, and the addition of Jimmy, Dustin, and Tim underscores the commitment we’re making to establish ourselves as champions for years to come. Daytona can’t come soon enough,” exclaimed Chris Larsen, owner of HFR and Halmar International, LLC.
