Sale of Kyle Busch Motorsports: Kyle Busch, despite selling Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM), plans to take the wheel in five NASCAR Truck Series races for Spire Motorsports in 2024.
In a surprising move following his retirement plans, which involved clinching a NASCAR Truck Series championship and passing the torch to his son, Brexton, Kyle Busch opted to sell off KBM along with all its assets to Spire Motorsports. This acquisition marks Spire’s expansion in NASCAR, notably securing a third charter for its Cup Series endeavor in 2024 while embarking on a two-truck team venture in the Truck Series.
This transition arrives just a year after KBM shifted allegiance from Toyota, its long-standing manufacturer, to Chevrolet, a change coinciding with Busch’s move from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing in the Cup Series.
Chase Purdy, contracted to return to KBM for 2024, will now embrace a full-time role with Spire Motorsports, entering his fourth consecutive season as a Truck Series full-timer.
The second truck at Spire is slated to be a shared ride among multiple drivers, a strategy employed during its tenure as a KBM entry in the 2023 season. Notably, Kyle Busch will once again be one of those drivers, despite the sale of his team.
While Busch’s specific races for the 2024 Truck Series remain unconfirmed, his commitment to participating in five events each season remains unchanged.
As part of Spire Motorsports, Busch will also take on the role of consultant. He holds the record for the most victories in Truck Series history and has consistently maximized his race count in the series since the restriction for full-time Cup Series drivers was capped at five races annually in 2018, extending his streak of winning at least one truck race in each of the last 11 seasons since 2013.

Kyle Busch Motorsports was established in 2010, and apart from the 2009 season, Kyle himself has been synonymous with the team. Among his remarkable 64 career wins, an impressive 48 were secured under the KBM banner.
His involvement with Spire Motorsports as a consultant and part-time driver is anticipated to elevate the team’s growth and development. Furthermore, this move positions Spire as an appealing destination for aspiring young drivers, showcasing their commitment to progress in the competitive NASCAR landscape.
This strategic maneuver might hint at the potential for Kyle Busch to eventually hand over the reins to Brexton, keeping that possibility open for the future.
