Tyler Ankrum Joins MHR: Boosting NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Lineup

Tyler Ankrum Joins MHR: McAnally-Hilgemann Racing (MHR) revealed today that Tyler Ankrum will be a key addition to their NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) roster for 2024. Set to commandeer the newly rebranded No. 18 Chevrolet Silverado RST, Ankrum will be under the guidance of seasoned crew chief Mark Hillman. Hailing from San Bernardino, Calif., Ankrum will showcase the well-known LIUNA colors on his Chevrolet in 21 out of the 23 NCTS races. LIUNA, or the Laborers’ International Union of North America, stands as a colossal force in the construction industry, boasting a membership exceeding 530,000 individuals proud to contribute to the construction of the United States and Canada.

In addition, Ullico, the Union Labor Life Insurance Company, a staunch advocate for American workers and the sole labor-owned insurance and investment firm, will feature prominently on Ankrum’s No. 18 Chevrolet as the primary partner for two races.

Ankrum’s inclusion in the MHR stable brings in more NCTS playoff experience, having secured qualification for the seven-race championship chase in 2019 and 2020.

“Joining MHR for the 2024 season marks an exciting new chapter for me and a fantastic opportunity,” remarked Ankrum. “Both teams exhibited remarkable speed and adaptability in 2023, demonstrating tangible results. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with Mark (Hillman) and his team and am thrilled to join forces with Christian (Eckes), Jack (Wood), and Daniel (Dye). My aim is to return to the playoffs, and I am confident in MHR’s potential to achieve that next year.”

“We are delighted to welcome Tyler to the team as we continue to expand in 2024,” expressed team owner Bill McAnally. “Tyler has showcased his capabilities at this level, and we aim to propel him back into the playoffs, establishing a formidable presence this season. Partnering him with Mark (Hillman) and the No. 35 team from the previous season aligns perfectly with Tyler’s skills, and we are thrilled to have him as part of our burgeoning program.”

Ankrum will embark on his inaugural race with MHR in the No. 18 LIUNA Chevrolet Silverado RST at the season opener at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 16th.
