Shane van Gisbergen NASCAR Schedule: Three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen provided insight into his forthcoming NASCAR racing schedule during a recent interview, shedding light on his future with Trackhouse Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Van Gisbergen’s entry into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season was confirmed following his victorious debut at the inaugural Chicago Street Race, securing a development deal with Trackhouse Racing.
In a conversation on the Gypsy Tales Podcast, the seasoned racer hinted at his anticipated participation in 30 to 40 races throughout the 2024 NASCAR season, emphasizing his passion for motorsports. His packed schedule is set to encompass competitions across NASCAR’s premier tiers.
Expressing his outlook, Van Gisbergen outlined his intentions for 2024 as an experiential phase preceding his anticipated full-time presence in the NASCAR Cup Series:
“I have a fair idea of my plans, although they’re not entirely solidified or publicly announced yet. I’m looking at potentially running around 30 to 40 races, perhaps more if given diverse class opportunities.”
Primarily focused on the Xfinity Series, Van Gisbergen outlined a packed slate encompassing numerous Cup races and potentially foraying into Truck events. His aim is to familiarize himself thoroughly before stepping into a full-time Cup Series role in 2025:
“It’s essentially a preparatory year for me, gearing up for ’25 when I aim to plunge into the Cup Series full-time, equipped with a deeper understanding of the weekly routine.”
The 34-year-old driver, with two Cup Series appearances under his belt, clinched victory at Chicago and secured a top-10 finish at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. His Truck Series debut at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park resulted in a 19th-place finish.
Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks expressed confidence in Van Gisbergen’s NASCAR journey, highlighting plans for the Australian Supercar champion’s diverse schedule, encompassing races across all three NASCAR series, late models, and grassroots-level events.
“This presents a significant challenge for Shane, but his talent is evident to all. The upcoming year aims to familiarize him with oval track racing, superspeedways, and tracks that are new to his illustrious career.”
