Danica Patrick Lambasts Perry’s ‘Astronaut’ Claim Post Space Trip

Former NASCAR and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick expressed her displeasure on her recent Instagram Story about pop star Katy Perry’s claim to be an astronaut after her escapade into space. Perry was part of an all-woman crew on a space journey under the banner of Jeff Bezos, which included Bezos’ fiancee Lauren Sanchez, journalist Gayle King, among others.

However, Katy Perry’s new self-appointed “astronaut” status was dismissed as a stretch by a member of President Trump’s administration. The US Department of Transportation’s Secretary Sean Duffy reminded everyone about the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines. He stated that the crew members who went to space this week on the automated flight by Blue Origin were brave, but they do not meet the official FAA astronaut criteria.

Danica Patrick seems to have the same sentiment. Not one to mince words, she taunted Perry about her space endeavor and astronaut claims through her Instagram Story. Her biting comment was, “I just heard Katy Perry stood in a puddle and now she’s a deep-sea diver.

This incident has not only brought attention to Perry’s disputed “astronaut” title but also raised questions about who can accurately be credited with this title. While the space trip seems like a cool experience, it does not automatically grant Perry or any other civilian the much-coveted astronaut status.
