Brad Keselowski’s miserable 2025 campaign took another devastating turn on Sunday in Kansas, as he crashed out from second place, extending a series of disappointing results and deepening his winless streak. After 12 races, Keselowski has yet to finish in the top ten, with five DNFs already recorded this season, placing him in a distressing position for both his career and RFK Racing’s hopes. Despite his determination and early speed, luck again slipped away at the worst moment.
Keselowski showed rare promise in Kansas, charging his No. 6 ford/”>Ford Mustang from the very back of the field to compete among the leaders. By the third stage, he had surged past Kyle Larson, the eventual race winner, and began closing the gap to Chase Elliott. For fans and his team, there was an unfamiliar glimmer of optimism, as Keselowski looked set to challenge for his first win in months. That hope quickly vanished on Lap 194 of 267, when a blown right-rear tire sent him hard into the outside wall, ending his race with a 37th place finish. Several other teams had struggled with flat tires throughout the weekend, as everyone pushed the limits, but Keselowski’s misfortune felt particularly cruel given his circumstances.
“It was a good day,” Keselowski said, trying to remain composed after emerging from the infield care center.
“It was going to be a great day. Felt like we had a shot to win with our Ford Mustang. Pretty car, but it’s not pretty anymore. I didn’t really have much of a warning. Just went into Turn 1 and I heard a big ‘boom,’ and around it went. It’s unfortunate. We were playing to win and we were right in a spot to do just that and it didn’t come together.”
This Kansas crash marks three consecutive DNFs for Brad Keselowski, cementing the worst season start of his career. Even as a rookie and part-time driver in 2009, Keselowski enjoyed better performances. His best finish this year remains a humble 11th at Las Vegas, highlighting just how far expectations have fallen. While RFK Racing remains winless across the board, teammates Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece still sit significantly higher in the standings, compounding Keselowski’s ongoing struggles.
The relentless setbacks raise critical questions about Brad Keselowski’s future in the 2025 season. If these results continue, both his championship hopes and RFK Racing’s momentum could suffer irreversible damage, leaving fans and the team with more uncertainty than ever as the season presses on.
