Joey Logano praises Team Penske for ‘seamless’ Indy 500 livery crossover in NASCAR Cup Series

Joey Logano, well-known for his achievements in the NASCAR Cup Series, voiced his admiration for Team Penske’s unique livery crossover when he visited Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 14. Watching the IndyCar drivers prepare for the legendary Indy 500, Logano not only cheered on his teammates but specifically praised how effortlessly Team Penske integrated the iconic Indy 500 paint schemes into NASCAR, creating a sense of unity across both disciplines during one of the most anticipated weekends in motorsports.

During the practice sessions at the famed 2.5-mile oval, Joey Logano paid close attention to the striking liveries on Team Penske’s IndyCar machines. He expressed his excitement about seeing the same designs cross over between series. Josef Newgarden will run the iconic Shell livery in the Indy 500, echoing the scheme Logano carried at this year’s Daytona 500. Meanwhile, Scott McLaughlin prepares to race with the bold yellow Pennzoil livery, often called the Yellow Submarine, and Logano will run the matching livery for the Coca-Cola 600, which happens on the very same day as the Indy 500.

Impressed with Team Penske’s commitment, Joey Logano credited the organization for driving the livery crossover and bringing fans from both NASCAR and IndyCar closer together.

“It’s just awesome to see our team make the Indy 500 designs work so perfectly on a Cup car,”

he stated during the post-practice interviews. For Logano, the seamless integration means more than just aesthetics; it’s about honoring racing heritage and building excitement for fans watching both marquee events.

Logano also reflected on his own experience running the Shell livery at Daytona and looked forward to suiting up in the Yellow Submarine for the Coca-Cola 600. He shared his hopes for Team Penske to find victory lane in both big races, saying,

“It would be incredible for both cars with these classic looks to finish strong and make some history on Memorial Day weekend.”

Last year, Scott McLaughlin captured pole position at the Indy 500 in the Yellow Submarine, but it was Josef Newgarden who claimed victory for Team Penske with the Shell-themed Chevrolet. This year, with both races unfolding on Memorial Day Sunday, Joey Logano and his teammates are aiming to deliver unforgettable performances, reinforcing Team Penske’s legacy in both IndyCar and NASCAR.
