Roots in Iredell County and Growth Over Decades

Since establishing its base in Iredell County in 1991, Team Penske has developed strong local ties, originally operating from a shop on Knob Hill Road before moving in 2005 to a larger, more advanced campus spanning over 400,000 square feet in the town‘s northeast. This transition facilitated the company’s substantial growth, which now includes a workforce of more than 450 employees. The Mooresville facility has played a crucial role in securing 24 of the team’s 47 total championships.

Championship Wins and Recent Streaks

Team Penske’s elite status was underscored by its recent three-year streak in the NASCAR Cup Series. Joey Logano’s dominant drive in the 2022 season finale at Phoenix, leading 187 laps, gave him his second Cup Series title and set the tone for continued success. Ryan Blaney followed in 2023, sealing his place as champion after a pivotal Martinsville Speedway victory propelled him to a strong finish in the finals. By 2024, Team Penske achieved an unprecedented result with Logano and Blaney finishing first and second in the championship, Logano taking his third title and Blaney as runner-up.

Beyond NASCAR: Achievements in Other Motor Racing Series

The organization’s trophy cabinet reflects achievements across several top series. Beyond its NASCAR success, Team Penske also secured the NTT IndyCar Series title in 2022 with Josef Newgarden. Further notable moments include a Memorial Day Weekend sweep in 2023, as the team took wins at both the Coca-Cola 600 (Blaney) and Indianapolis 500 (Newgarden). In 2024, through collaboration with Porsche Penske Motorsport, the team added victories in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship, cementing its reputation as one of the sport’s premier organizations.

Team Penske’s recognition by Mooresville’s leadership highlights not only its racing successes but also its lasting legacy in the local community. With historic achievements spanning NASCAR, IndyCar, and endurance racing, and with Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, and Josef Newgarden at the forefront, Team Penske’s ongoing impact is expected to inspire future generations, bolster local pride, and keep Mooresville in the spotlight as a home to motorsport excellence.
