The NASCAR world heads to the Pocono Mountains this weekend for a tripleheader showdown at one of the sport’s most unique and strategic tracks—Pocono Raceway, also known as the Tricky Triangle. From Friday through Sunday (June 20–22), all three national series—the Craftsman Truck Series, Xfinity Series, and Cup Series—will tackle the challenging three-turn layout, each with a full slate of practice, qualifying, and racing action.
Friday Kicks Off with Trucks at the Tricky Triangle
The weekend begins on Friday, June 20, as the Craftsman Truck Series sets the tone. Gates, Fan Fair, and the Paddock open at 12:00 p.m. ET, giving fans early access to one of the most scenic tracks on the schedule.
Truck Series practice takes place at 12:35 p.m., followed by qualifying at 1:40 p.m., where teams will set the grid for the MillerTech Battery 200, scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET (80 laps / 200 miles). With 34 entries, all teams are locked into the field—barring late withdrawals.
Several drivers and teams are turning heads:
Brandon Jones is back in the No. 1 TRICON Garage Toyota.
Bryan Dauzat makes his 2025 debut in the FDNY Racing No. 28 after missing the show at Daytona.
Luke Baldwin returns in ThorSport Racing’s No. 66 entry.
MBM Motorsports returns to Truck competition with Tyler Tomassi piloting the No. 69.
Cody Dennison (No. 2) and Clay Green (No. 22) bring a two-truck effort from Reaume Brothers Racing.
The Spire Motorsports No. 07 is also entered, though the driver had yet to be announced as of Tuesday.
With a mix of veterans, newcomers, and a tight race for the playoffs, Friday’s race will set the weekend’s competitive tone. FOX Sports 1 will carry all the on-track action.
Xfinity Stars and Cup Qualifying Pack a Busy Saturday
Saturday, June 21, is the busiest day of the weekend, with both the Xfinity Series and Cup Series drivers sharing track time and the spotlight.
The day begins early, with gates opening at 8:00 a.m. ET. Xfinity drivers hit the track first for practice at 10:00 a.m., followed by qualifying at 11:05 a.m. for the Explore the Pocono Mountains 250 later in the day (3:30 p.m. ET, The CW).
The Xfinity entry list is stacked with 38 drivers:
Chase Elliott returns to the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
Justin Bonsignore suits up in the No. 19 for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Patrick Emerling (No. 07) and Garrett Smithley (No. 14) represent SS-Green Light Racing.
Carson Ware enters with the No. 35 for Joey Gase Motorsports.
Leland Honeyman gets his turn in the No. 70 for Cope Family Racing.
Josh Bilicki (No. 91) and Mason Massey (No. 45) return to the grid.
Qualifying results will set the grid for what’s shaping up to be one of the most competitive races of the season on a track that often produces wild restarts and tire-saving gambles.
Cup Series drivers then take over the track for practice at 12:35 p.m., followed by qualifying at 1:45 p.m., setting the lineup for Sunday’s feature race. With 37 entries, the field is set—no one will be sent home after time trials.
Notably, Brennan Poole will make his first Cup start since 2023, driving the No. 44 for NY Racing Team.
Sunday Showdown – The Great American Getaway 400
The weekend concludes on Sunday, June 22, with the main event: the Great American Getaway 400 presented by VISITPA.COM, beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
Fans will return to the grandstands when the gates open at 8:00 a.m., building anticipation for one of the more strategy-intensive races on the calendar. With 160 laps (400 miles) around Pocono’s triangular layout, teams must balance tire management, fuel windows, and long straightaways that can reward bold passes—or punish drivers who misjudge braking points.
The Cup Series race comes at a critical point in the regular season. With the playoffs approaching, drivers outside the cut line will be aggressive, while others aim to fine-tune their setups ahead of the summer stretch. Restarts at Pocono are among the wildest in NASCAR, often featuring four- or five-wide scrambles down the long frontstretch into Turn 1.
All eyes will be on race strategy, tire falloff, and how teams approach the final stage, where fuel mileage has often played a deciding role in Pocono outcomes. The broadcast on Prime Video adds a streaming-only layer to Sunday’s spectacle, continuing NASCAR’s experiment with digital platforms.
