Spire Motorsports Joins Kyle Larson High Limit Racing in 2026

Spire Motorsports is set to expand beyond its NASCAR roots by entering the Kubota High Limit Racing series with a full-time 410 winged sprint car in 2026. This collaboration comes as Spire aligns with Kyle Larson High Limit Racing, leveraging personal connections and shared ambitions to compete at the national level.

Longstanding Relationships Drive the Decision

Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports, is central to this move, thanks to his deep ties with Kyle Larson and others in the High Limit Racing circle. Dickerson’s background as a former USAC midget racer and his past role managing Larson’s transition from dirt to NASCAR helped lay the groundwork for this partnership. Having played a key role in securing Larson’s first development deal with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2013, Dickerson brings a history of racing expertise to the team’s newest venture.

Further strengthening this network, Dickerson maintains a strong connection with Kendra Jacobs, Chief Marketing and Events Officer of the High Limit Racing Series. Their history dates back to when Jacobs was marketing director at Knoxville Raceway while Spire managed track operations, fostering trust and teamwork that now translates into this new endeavor.

“I think with what Brad and Kyle are doing and with the amount of transparency that they show, obviously, I’ve got longstanding relationships with both of them. Add in J.P. (Josh Peterman) and Kendra and a lot of people around High Limit, and you know, we want to go racing with our friends. … You just want to do it with people that you enjoy being with. That’s certainly the High Limit series.”

— Jeff Dickerson, Spire Motorsports Co-Owner

High Limit’s Transparent Approach Appeals to Teams

The High Limit Racing Series has consistently received positive feedback for its openness and willingness to involve team owners in key decisions. This fresh approach is exemplified by the introduction of charter memberships, making the series attractive for new entrants like Spire. The organization’s collaborative style seems to have played a significant role in Dickerson’s commitment.

Reports indicate that Dickerson invested upwards of $400,000 to secure a series membership. He highlighted the active role owners have in shaping the series’ direction:

“The way that High Limit does it, or at least my experience with High Limit, is you feel like you’re part of the decision-making process. You feel like you have a seat at the table.”

— Jeff Dickerson, Spire Motorsports Co-Owner

Gio Scelzi to Drive in the 2026 High Limit Season

Filling the seat for Spire Motorsports will be 24-year-old Giovanni “Gio” Scelzi, who is set to compete in all 66 races of the season. Scelzi boasts an impressive racing pedigree as the son of former NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car champion Gary Scelzi. His talent was further recognized when he earned the title of 2023 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year, positioning him as a promising contender for the upcoming season.

Anticipation Builds for Spire’s High Limit Debut

As Spire Motorsports enters the Kubota High Limit Racing series, its connections to influential figures like Kyle Larson, Brad Sweet, Kendra Jacobs, and Josh Peterman stand out as key strengths. The decision not only reflects a return to short-track roots for Dickerson but also signals a broader shift within motorsport toward collaboration and transparent team management. With Gio Scelzi behind the wheel, Spire’s debut is set to add competitive flair and increased attention to Kyle Larson High Limit Racing in 2026.
