Tyler Reddick, a NASCAR Cup Series driver for 23XI Racing, has opened up about his challenging offseason, placing a spotlight on his family’s health. The Tyler Reddick offseason update reveals that his primary focus was caring for his young son, Rookie, after a serious health scare at the end of 2025, shifting his attention away from his usual racing routines.
Late last October, Reddick’s son was diagnosed with a tumor affecting his kidney and heart. Surgery was required to remove the tumor and improve Rookie’s heart function, drawing Reddick away from traditional offseason activities and keeping him by his family’s side during the recovery. As the weeks following the end of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season passed quickly, Reddick described those days as a whirlwind and expressed a wish for more downtime to catch up with personal and professional obligations. On the NASCAR Live podcast, Reddick spoke candidly about this period, stating,
“I didn’t do sh*t. I mean, it’s just, it’s life sometimes we spent a lot of time at the tail end of the season in the hospital. … The off season just flew right by, to be honest. So, yeah, I wish the off season was probably like another two months longer, just so I could feel completely caught up. But I mean, it’s just how life can be sometimes,”
Tyler Reddick said (09:50 onwards).
Despite the blur of hospital visits and emotional strain, Reddick emphasized what mattered most after his son’s surgery.
“The biggest thing is family’s healthy, rookie’s healthy, we’re all back to being home. That’s what’s most important.”
This sentiment captures the relief and gratitude he and his family feel as they return to regular life after months of uncertainty.
How Reddick’s Season Ended and Team Changes at 23XI Racing
Even with personal challenges, Reddick managed to qualify for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs for a fifth consecutive season, though he concluded the year without a victory. He finished ninth in the final championship standings, making it his third year in a row inside the top ten. Off the track, the offseason brought closure to 23XI Racing’s legal battle with NASCAR, as a settlement preserved the team’s charters. This development allows Reddick to enter his fourth season driving the No. 45 Toyota, aiming to build on his consistent performance as a Cup contender.
Reddick Addresses Future Amid Contract Uncertainty
As Reddick prepares for the 2026 season, contract questions loom. He is one of roughly 20 Cup Series drivers currently without a deal in place for 2027, making his performance this year crucial for his future in the series. In 2024, Reddick claimed the regular season championship and notched an impressive seven top-five and 14 top-ten results last year. Despite the lack of a contract commitment past this season, he remains steadfast and focused on his craft.
Speaking to Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass, Reddick provided insight into his approach for the year ahead:
“I try and leave every last ounce of myself out there on the racetrack every single week. As long as I stay committed to being myself, being who I am and driving to my limit and continuing to find ways to improve, I’m not worried about it”
