Hocevar Demands Wins From Spire Motorsports NASCAR Cup Team

Carson Hocevar, entering his third full season in the NASCAR Cup Series, has made winning a clear priority for the Spire Motorsports NASCAR Cup team in 2026. During a recent podcast appearance, Hocevar emphasized that securing victories is essential for measuring both his own and the team’s progress.

Hocevar’s Road to Setting Higher Expectations

The young driver debuted in the Cup Series in 2023 and quickly found success, clinching Rookie of the Year honors the following season. Hocevar achieved two podium finishes and nine top-10 results last year, leading a personal best of 122 laps in 2025. Nonetheless, he concluded the season 23rd in the standings, still seeking his first Cup win. With these past results fueling his ambition, Hocevar now sees wins as the standard for success in his partnership with Spire Motorsports.

Discussing his goals for the 2026 season, Hocevar shared his determination to move beyond consistent performances and aim directly for victory lane.

“I have to win. … Successful was gonna be just putting a trophy in the trophy case and then ultimately, hopefully, we have some consistency with it that our points score is pretty good. So, but ultimately, we have to put a win in the bank for just all of us,”

Carson Hocevar said (24:55 onwards).

Long-Term Commitment to Spire Motorsports

Earlier in the week, Spire Motorsports extended their commitment to Hocevar, announcing a long-term contract extension that will keep him behind the wheel of the No. 77 Chevrolet well into the 2030s. This new deal also allows Hocevar to participate in multiple Truck Series events during the year, starting with the season opener at Daytona International Speedway. These opportunities reinforce a partnership built on long-term growth, with both driver and team eyeing their first Cup victory together.

Addressing Recent Setbacks and Striving for Consistency

Hocevar’s 2025 campaign showcased both promise and frustration, as several misfortunes kept him from turning strong performances into hallmark victories. One notable heartbreak occurred at Michigan International Speedway, his home track, where after leading late in the race, a left rear tire failure forced a costly pit stop with fewer than 20 laps remaining, leading to a disappointing 29th-place finish. Another setback happened during the fall race at Bristol Motor Speedway, where hope for a top-five result faded after his car slipped off the jack during a pit stop, costing valuable positions.

Reflecting on these challenges, Hocevar highlighted the necessity of eliminating avoidable mistakes to convert opportunities into actual wins.

“I think it’s gonna be super important just having everything come together. You can’t blow a tire, you can’t blow a motor, can’t have a caution fall the wrong way. We had all three of those at some point, and we’ll probably have a few more up like a pit stop issue, whether it’s on my end or our crew end or whatever,”

Carson Hocevar added.

Last season also saw Hocevar suffer from three engine failures, the most dramatic coming during the Coca-Cola 600, where his run ended abruptly near the front when smoke poured from his Chevrolet engine. These technical problems, combined with missed pit stops, exemplified the hurdles that prevented the No. 77 team from reaching Victory Lane in 2025.

The Significance of the 2026 Season and What’s Next for Hocevar and Spire

For Carson Hocevar and Spire Motorsports, the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series is set up as a pivotal season packed with expectations and urgency. The new decade-long partnership signals the team’s belief in Hocevar’s potential, while his own demands for greater consistency and victories underscore a renewed resolve within the organization. Past near-wins and technical issues now serve as motivation, driving Hocevar and his crew to address every detail in pursuit of their breakthrough moment.

If Hocevar can translate speed and perseverance into results, the upcoming season may witness the No. 77 Spire Motorsports NASCAR Cup team finally claiming their spot in the winner’s circle—an achievement that would validate both the team’s investment and Hocevar’s relentless drive for success.
