Chandler Smith Fights Back for Top-10 at EchoPark Speedway

Chandler Smith delivered a determined showing in the latest NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event, securing a top-10 spot at EchoPark Speedway after facing late-race challenges, a result crucial for keeping his team in the championship hunt. The Chandler Smith EchoPark Speedway results saw the QuickTie Ford F-150 team overcoming setbacks, particularly a pit road penalty near the race’s conclusion, to finish sixth overall.

Smith Navigates Challenges for a Strong Finish

During the opening stage, Smith narrowly missed out on earning points, finishing 11th. In the second stage, he improved significantly, collecting good stage points with a fourth-place result. Despite a pit road penalty late in the race, Smith managed to recover and raced back into the top 10. His final ranking of sixth was an impressive comeback given the circumstances.

“It was a solid day all in all. We got some decent stage points in stage two. We missed out by one position on the first stage, but our F-150 handled really, really well today. It lacked a little bit on speed, but it handled phenomenally. I’m proud of everybody on this 38 team. Our QuickTie Ford F-150 was pretty solid. I was able to be aggressive and make moves and be able to get back up to the front after we had a pit road penalty at the very end. That definitely didn’t help us any, but we were able to bounce back and recover pretty nicely. It was a pretty solid day and a good points day.”

Layne Riggs Battles Adversity in the Same Race

Teammate Layne Riggs faced a far tougher outing at EchoPark Speedway. He finished 13th in the opening stage and 10th in stage two, consistently grappling with handling issues throughout the event. A collision with Carson Hocevar led to problems with tire wear, ultimately causing multiple right-front tire failures and relegating Riggs to a 27th-place finish.

“It’s been a frustrating start to the season, but honestly, it feels like we’ve just had some bad luck. We fought the handling all race — going from tight to loose and then back to tight — and then we had contact with Carson Hocevar and kept cutting down right-front tires. That’s tough to swallow, but I know what this team is capable of. We’ll keep pushing and the results will come.”

Looking Ahead for the FRM Team

The Chandler Smith EchoPark Speedway results underline the resilience of Smith and his 38 team, especially recovering from the late penalty to earn valuable points. With continued displays of determination, and key contributions from partners such as QuickTie, the team remains focused on fighting for top positions through the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, Riggs remains optimistic that better fortunes await the team as they strive for improved results in upcoming races at EchoPark Speedway and beyond.
