Tyler Reddick Eyes Historic Phoenix Four-Peat Victory

Tyler Reddick stands on the brink of making NASCAR history this weekend as he leads the field into the Straight Talk Wireless 500 at Phoenix Raceway, with hopes of securing a monumental fourth straight win to open the Cup Series season. Competing at the mile-long track in Avondale, Arizona, Reddick is poised to solidify his remarkable performance streak while the rest of the field, including his 23XI Racing teammate Bubba Wallace and contenders from Team Penske and Hendrick Motorsports, look to halt his momentum at Sunday’s 3:30 p.m. ET start.

Reddick Aims for Unprecedented Start in Arizona

Arriving at Phoenix Raceway with three consecutive wins already in the books, Tyler Reddick’s run this season has put him in rare air within the NASCAR Cup Series. The Daytona 500 champion has helped push 23XI Racing to the top of the standings, followed closely by Bubba Wallace. While Reddick’s current form has fans and competitors alike closely watching his No. 45 Toyota, the driver remains focused and grounded ahead of this pivotal 60th Cup Series race at the Arizona track.

A slight scare during Saturday’s practice, where Reddick experienced a harmless spin, did little to dampen the anticipation or the momentum he has generated so far. The Avondale event will be crucial in determining whether rivals can bridge the gap with Reddick, who sits 70 points ahead of Wallace, as familiar front-runners look to regain their composure after uneven starts to the year.

Reddick described the feeling heading into this historic opportunity:

It’s hard to put in words. It’s wild,

Tyler Reddick said before Saturday’s activities. He added,

I think I’ve said it multiple times, right, you have the hope. I’ve told you guys I’ve had hopes and dreams of just being a Cup driver one day, that hopefully that would happen, and here we are. That’s happened. And yeah, you never know who you’re gonna drive for, but I never would have, again, in my wildest dreams thought I’d be representing Jordan Brand and drive for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin. So yeah, it’s really cool to see. A lot of messages I’m trying to get back to. Everyone inside Airspeed’s just super-pumped and their head’s where they need to be. Like we’re excited, we’ve won three races, but everyone’s really hungry. We’re not satisfied.

Competitors Plot to End Reddick’s Winning Streak

Reddick’s early domination has not gone unnoticed by his fellow drivers. NASCAR veteran Ryan Blaney, last year’s Phoenix winner, remains confident yet realistic about the challenge that Reddick and his team present. Blaney, along with Team Penske partners Austin Cindric and Joey Logano, all qualified well, signaling a potential challenge to Reddick’s recent monopoly on victory lanes. Blaney shared his perspective:

… Yeah, I think we’re close, and I think they’ve been doing an amazing job. Like, you can’t really take anything away from that group. The competitor in me is like, ‘dang, they’re kicking our butt every week,’ but then also, the same competitor in me is, you have to respect what they’re doing and the run that they’ve been on, but I think we’re close. Look forward to this weekend, kind of getting out there and seeing what we’ve got at an oval, and we’ll see, but I think we’re closer than people think.

—Ryan Blaney, Driver

Joey Logano, who started from the pole after winning the Busch Light Pole Award, sees the Phoenix event and the next several races as essential benchmarks for determining team strengths and weaknesses. His comments on the upcoming schedule reflected the intensity in the Cup garage:

Anytime you get back from Vegas, you’ll have a pretty good idea of strengths and weaknesses, of where teams are at,

Logano explained, referencing the next race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He continued,

So yeah, I don’t think we’ve got the full report card yet. Some pretty odd tracks to start – Daytona, sure; Atlanta, pretty unique; and then COTA for a road course. Like we haven’t been to Phoenix and Vegas yet. Then, when you get to Martinsville, that might be your last bit of the report card, where you get kind of everything. Darlington, it’ll be interesting with the downforce package there and horsepower, that’ll be different. So we’ll have a good report card of where we are, strengths and weaknesses, and the points will start to average out a little bit to where, like I said, the cream always rises to the top, right? Eventually, when you average it out over the first 10 to 15 races, I think things clear up quite a bit.

This competitive spirit is shared by other contenders, including Christopher Bell with his own streak at the Arizona track, and standout drivers from teams like Hendrick Motorsports and RFK Racing, all seeking to reset the early order established by Reddick.

Key Race Details and Track Variables

The Straight Talk Wireless 500 is set for 312 laps on Phoenix Raceway’s distinct one-mile oval, with a race purse exceeding $11 million. The event will play out in three stages (60, 185, and 312 laps), and variables abound as competitors adapt to a Goodyear tire combination that showed significant wear during practice, along with a marginal rise in horsepower reflecting upcoming rules changes.

With recent races at superspeedways and a road course to open the year, the switch to Phoenix’s more traditional oval provides a fresh environment for teams to showcase their setups and racecraft. Seven of the next events, including this one, take place at tracks integral to the ten-race playoff stretch, making Sunday’s results especially relevant for postseason planning.

Team Performance Metrics Entering Phoenix

As the Cup field prepares for the desert challenge, team-by-team average finishes shine a light on current frontrunners. 23XI Racing, anchored by Tyler Reddick, holds the best team average finish at 12.40, with Reddick himself maintaining a remarkable 1.0 average. Kaulig Racing slots next with a 14.33 average led by AJ Allmendinger, while RFK Racing, Spire Motorsports, and Hendrick Motorsports round out the group, each aiming for improvement as the season finds its rhythm. Chase Elliott’s performance for Hendrick remains a bright spot with a 7.3 average finish despite his team’s wider struggles.

Eyes on the Prize: What’s at Stake in Avondale

Sunday’s showdown at Phoenix is more than just the next race on the schedule—it’s a critical juncture for title hopefuls including Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, Joey Logano, Christopher Bell, and other stars like Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski. The result will offer early insight into which teams and drivers are truly positioned for the long Cup campaign, and whether 23XI Racing’s early dominance will persist or yield to a new challenger in the Arizona desert.

As NASCAR’s regular season intensifies, the drama of the Phoenix four-peat chase, the evolving order among power teams like Team Penske, Hendrick Motorsports, and RFK Racing, and the adaptation to new tire and technical parameters ensure a compelling contest for fans and competitors alike. With trackside action on FS1, FOX One, and radio coverage on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, all eyes will be on Avondale to see if Tyler Reddick’s historic run continues or if a new victor emerges on the desert mile.
