Sam Bird Joins McLaren Formula E Team: Sam Bird has driven in Formula E since 2014. He’s famous for racing. He drove for Virgin Racing, Envision Racing, and Jaguar, his current team.
Bird played his last three seasons with the British automotive firm at 36. His debut season included wins in Diriyah and New York. This season, his performance declined. He finished seventh in the drivers’ standings without a win. He also clashed twice with his partner Mitch Evans, making matters worse. The bird will be replaced at Jaguar by Nick Cassidy this season. On Tuesday, Bird officially joined McLaren.
Bird gushed, “I’m so stoked to begin my journey with the McLaren Formula E Team!” Being part of the McLaren Racing family, which has a long history and strong reputation, feels important. We must complete various tasks before Season 10 to lead the Formula E race. I’m glad to be on the team and ready to prepare for the season. I want to work hard and assist the club in winning Season 10.
When McLaren joined Formula E this year, Mercedes was displaced. Mercedes exited the series after two titles with Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne.
In his first year with McLaren, British driver Jake Hughes was influential. He finished 12th in the drivers’ standings with two pole positions. He was eight points ahead of Rast, who finished third in Diriyah for the team’s sole podium. Last week, Hughes rejoined McLaren, and BMW-backed racer Rast left after one season.
The bird was warmly greeted by McLaren Racing boss Zak Brown, who said, “We’re glad Sam joined us. Sam is a great Formula E driver. We’re thrilled to have him on board to improve in Season 10. Jake and I have been among the best Formula E teams since we race together.
