Autocraft Baskerville 1000: Record-Breaking Event Redefines Motorsport Thrills

Autocraft Baskerville 1000: Last weekend’s 16th Autocraft Baskerville 1000 at Pepsi Max Baskerville Raceway smashed multiple records. Racing talent was impressive. Hobart Sporting Car Club hosted the event, where Yellow Ren-O set a record with 1105 points, and Hurd Bros Racing set a record with 277 laps in the six-hour race. More than 100 players from 29 teams competed in this annual competition. They battled to obtain lap times within one second of a goal. This scored for their teams. Yellow Ren-O Racing beat MyRage Racing by 75 points in their Renault Clio.

In the last hour, MyRage Racing overcame Hurd Bros Racing for third in the most dramatic race. At the finish, they were separated by 40 points. Team Newie finished fourth, 20 points behind the top three and ahead of Lance-R-Lot Racing in fifth despite a tough race.

This year’s gathering was special because of all the family. Grandpa, father, and son on the #31 Dakar Motorsport Hyundai squad were the first three-generation team at the race. They finished 17th with 665 laps. With her kids, Robbie and Jamie, Heather Butler finished 11th in her debut racing event. Their Mazda 323 won the best-presented car, giving the family a tremendous racing start.

Bruce Thomas, Baskerville 1000’s chair, was pleased with the event and community participation. “It went great. A lovely winter day made the races fascinating to watch “Thomas. He said four or five new volunteers were racing for the first time, which was a huge milestone for the local motorsport culture. Time Attack Tasmania is the next Hobart Sporting Car Club race on September 17 at the same location. Mozza’s Mates placed sixth. One timed lap ahead of the following winner made the event more competitive.

The Autocraft Baskerville 1000 was more than a race—it was a community event that smashed records, drew in new people, and had many exciting moments that participants and spectators will never forget. With stories of generations-old teams, first-time drivers, and close races, the event combined community and motorsports into one spectacular day.
