Phoenix Raceway and West-MEC: Phoenix Raceway has forged an exciting partnership with Western Maricopa Education Center (West-MEC) to become the official Career & Technical Education Partner of Phoenix Raceway, the esteemed venue for NASCAR Championship Weekend.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Phoenix Raceway President Latasha Causey stated, “We’re super excited to partner with a district as dedicated toward helping students in the Valley achieve excellence as West-MEC. With their abundance of innovative programs and opportunities, we look forward to helping prepare students in the community for careers in motorsports.”

West-MEC, a leading public school district, prides itself on providing innovative Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, offering students a faster way forward by delivering hands-on experiences through industry-standard equipment and labs, experienced instructors, and unique leadership opportunities. The focus is on cultivating professional skills that employers are actively seeking.

In this groundbreaking partnership, West-MEC gains branding rights and becomes the presenting sponsor of the Phoenix Raceway Show Car. Moreover, West-MEC will concentrate on enhancing their auto mechanics and related fields, providing students with practical, hands-on learning experiences directly aligned with NASCAR career paths.

Dr. Scott Spurgeon, Superintendent of West-MEC, expressed his excitement, stating, “The partnership with Phoenix Raceway is truly one-of-a-kind and allows our students to work hands-on in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are most excited for our students to have the chance to put their skills to work in an exciting setting for years to come.”

Since its establishment in 2003, West-MEC has experienced remarkable growth, now hosting 29 career and technical education training programs and eight Adult Ed programs across four campuses. With over 45,000 students from 49 high schools in the northern and western regions of the Phoenix metropolitan area enrolled in West-MEC-funded programs, the institution stands as a testament to its commitment to education and career development.
