Buescher kicked off the year with a stellar fourth-place finish at the iconic Daytona 500, setting the stage for a remarkable journey. A thrilling victory at Richmond followed, where he outpaced Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing. This triumph not only marked his first playoff appearance since 2016 but also showcased his prowess on the track.
The momentum continued as Buescher secured back-to-back wins at Michigan, culminating in a stunning victory at Daytona. Despite an impressive 8th-place finish at Martinsville, his playoff journey concluded. Reflecting on the challenges faced, Buescher praised his team’s efforts during an interview.
“That was a tough day for us, but tough in a good way. We made good changes, good strategy calls. The crew excelled on pit road,” Buescher acknowledged. He expressed immense pride in the team’s 2023 achievements, emphasizing the significance of their progress.
“Fantastic job all around. To win this thing and move on, we knew it would require more. But, I’m incredibly proud of our year, considering everything,” he remarked. Despite the disappointment, Buescher remained optimistic, looking forward to the 2024 season.
While the playoff journey concluded, Buescher’s determination remained unshaken. Looking ahead to 2024, he acknowledged the team’s accomplishments, expressing gratitude for the progress made.
“It’s disappointing not to advance, but we’ll take our achievements from this year, learn from them, and gear up for the next season. We’ll be ready to hit the ground running,” he affirmed.
As the 2023 season draws to a close, Chris Buescher sets his sights on the NASCAR Cup Series season finale in Phoenix, aiming to conclude the year on a triumphant note.
