Corey Heim Penalized: Corey Heim, who secured the third spot in the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point standings, has found himself facing penalties imposed by NASCAR after his actions during Friday’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Phoenix Raceway.
Heim, behind the wheel of the No. 11 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for TRICON Garage, has been fined $12,500 and had 25 driver points deducted due to a late-race incident involving fellow Championship 4 contender Carson Hocevar.
This 25-point penalty has dropped Heim from his third-place position in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point standings to fourth, making him the lowest-ranked among the Championship 4 drivers. The top three positions now belong to Ben Rhodes, Grant Enfinger, and the recently impacted Carson Hocevar.
The penalty was the result of an on-track incident that occurred with just three laps remaining in the Friday NASCAR Truck Series event. During this incident, Heim, hailing from Marietta, Georgia, moved up the racetrack, causing both himself and Hocevar to collide with the outside wall.
After the race, Heim was adamant that this incident was not an act of retaliation for an earlier altercation between the two drivers. In a prior scuffle, Hocevar had made contact with the left-rear corner of Heim’s No. 11 Toyota Tundra, causing it to spin with 30 laps remaining.
It’s worth noting that this penalty does not affect the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Owner’s Point Standings, where the No. 11 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for TRICON Garage will retain its third-place position.
