The 26-year-old driver is rejoining the top tier of NASCAR after demonstrating exceptional skill and determination in the NASCAR Xfinity Series over the past two years.

Custer’s time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series was marked by notable achievements, including clinching the 2023 championship title and finishing as the runner-up in the previous season. “It means a ton to be back in the Cup Series, I mean the highest level in racing, it’s the pinnacle of our sport. That’s where every driver as a kid dreamed of being, you know, and you’re competing against the best of the best and get to see what you’re made of. So I think it’s exciting to race at the top level and hopefully we can put some of the great together we can be proud of.” –  Cole Custer

In his comments, Custer also highlighted his hopes for the upcoming season. He expressed a desire for both personal and team success, aspiring to create something memorable and worthy of pride.

Haas Factory Team’s Formation and Technical Alliance

Emerging from the changeover period following Stewart-Haas Racing’s decision to exit stock car racing in mid-2024, the Haas Factory Team (HFT) has been established to continue competing in the NASCAR Cup Series. This newly formed team steps into the racing scene, taking over one charter left by its predecessor. The key to HFT’s initial success lies in its calculated technical partnership with RFK Racing for the 2025 Cup season. This collaboration provides HFT with access to crucial resources and expertise, setting a sturdy foundation for its upcoming challenges.

The technical partnership with RFK Racing is a pivotal component for HFT. It guarantees the new team can utilize the resources and knowledge of an established entity, even as they maintain distinct operations, personnel, and equipment. This collaboration signifies a practical approach to building competitiveness and stability in the early days of HFT’s expedition.

Insider Slams NASCAR's AI Playoff Idea

Aaron Kramer’s Thoughts on the RFK Racing Alliance

Although the Haas Factory Team and RFK Racing operate independently, Aaron Kramer, the newly appointed crew chief for Cole Custer’s No. 41 Ford Mustang, highlights the value of their specialized alliance. During an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Kramer explained the benefits of this partnership. He noted that both teams have their own buildings, people, and tools, which means they have different ways of putting cars together.

Despite this, Kramer emphasized the importance of having engineering support from RFK Racing, which can provide valuable insights and resources. Kramer, who has a long history with RFK Racing, expressed his understanding of how the team operated. This familiarity is beneficial as he leads HFT in the upcoming season.

“We’re in separate buildings with separate people and different tools and different ways of putting cars together. But I have the benefit of knowing how RFK operated for a long time. So, I have that experience. But I have not asked for something and been told no yet. And it’s been explained to us exactly like you said. This is a pseudo-fourth car in terms of the support we’re going to get.” – Aaron Kramer

However, he also made it clear that there would be no on-track collaboration between the two teams. This means that while they share engineering information, they will compete independently during races.

The engineering alliance is expected to help the Haas Factory Team improve their performance. Kramer is optimistic about the resources available to HFT and believes that this partnership will be advantageous. He showed enthusiasm for the upcoming season and is excited to see how the team will perform with the support from RFK Racing.

“They’re not going to do us any favors on the racetrack. We’re still out there to race. But as far as getting setups and different race car theory ideas from them, I have not seen a difference in what I’ve gotten so far versus what I got when I sat in that building. So, I’m excited for it.” – Aaron Kramer

Additionally, as HFT prepares for the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, drivers Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer will take on the challenge of driving the No. 00 and No. 41 cars. This move is part of the team’s broader strategy to strengthen their competitive edge.
