Sheldon Creed Bio

Sheldon Michael Creed (born September 30, 1997) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, driving the No. 00 Chevrolet Camaro SS for Haas Factory Team. Born in Alpine, California, Creed built his early reputation in short course off-road racing before successfully transitioning to stock cars, and he remains one of the most versatile drivers in the NASCAR ladder.

A two-time Stadium Super Trucks champion and the 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series champion, Creed has won titles across multiple racing disciplines. Known for his aggressive style and car control, he carries the nickname “Silver Creed” from commentator Rick Allen because of his many runner-up finishes. After four full seasons in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Creed finally broke through for his first series victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2026.

Early Life and Background

Sheldon Michael Creed was born on September 30, 1997, in Alpine, California. His family was deeply rooted in motorsports. His father Scott was a dirt bike rider, and his grandfather was a late model racer at Cajon Speedway. Grandfather Maurice Ortega runs the underground utility construction company A.M. Ortega, which has sponsored Creed’s off-road and NASCAR trucks.

Creed began riding BMX bikes at age three and won a state championship two years later. He later switched to motocross and won two Barona MX Park championships in 2005, the same year he finished second in KTM’s Jr Supercross Challenge. Concerned about injuries, his mother encouraged him to move away from motocross, and by age eight, he was competing in Quarter Midget racing at the Orange Show Quarter Midget Racing Association, where he set multiple track records. His early dirt track experience also included sprint cars beginning in 2011.

Path to NASCAR

At age nine, Creed began racing Trophy Karts in Championship Off-Road Racing, finishing fourth in his first year. From 2009 to 2011, he won a championship in every season of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series kart competition, becoming the series’ third driver to win multiple class championships in the same year. In 2012, he won the SuperLite national title with seven victories and added the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup at Firebird International Raceway.

Creed’s move into stock cars came after sustained success in Stadium Super Trucks, where Robby Gordon became his mentor. He tested an ARCA Racing Series stock car at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in March 2016 and made his Truck Series debut in the Eldora Dirt Derby that summer. By 2018, he was running full-time in ARCA, winning the series championship with MDM Motorsports, and shortly after was named to the Drivers Edge Development program between GMS Racing and JR Motorsports.

Sheldon Creed Career

Early Career (2009-2015)

Creed’s earliest national success came in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, where he won kart championships in 2009 and 2010 before moving up to the SuperLite class. He clinched the SuperLite national championship in 2012 with seven wins and added the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup at Firebird International Raceway.

In 2013, Creed ran his first full Pro Lite season and finished third in points behind Brian Deegan. The following year, he won the Pro Lite Unlimited title at age sixteen, becoming the youngest Pro Lite champion. He also debuted in Stadium Super Trucks in 2013, winning at age fifteen to become the youngest race winner in series history.

Stadium Super Trucks Breakthrough (2013-2017)

Creed quickly became a dominant force in Stadium Super Trucks. After winning twice as a rookie in 2013, he swept the Toronto weekend in 2014 and claimed the silver medal at X Games Austin. In 2015, he captured the gold medal at X Games Austin and won nine races to claim his first SST championship.

The 2016 season was even stronger, as Creed won all but eight of the twenty SST races on his way to a second consecutive title, including weekend sweeps at the Grand Prix of Long Beach and the Charlotte Motor Speedway Dirt Track. He continued racing in SST alongside his stock car commitments in 2017, winning a series-best seven races. As of 2021, his 39 career SST wins were the most in series history.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Breakthrough (2016-2021)

After sporadic Truck Series starts from 2016 through 2018, Creed became a full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver in 2019 with GMS Racing. He struggled with consistency as a rookie, recording two second-place finishes but missing the playoffs, finishing tenth in points.

Creed’s breakout came in 2020, when he won five Truck Series races, including a dramatic overtime victory at Phoenix Raceway that clinched the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Championship. In 2021, he won two playoff races at Gateway and Darlington but fell four points short of advancing to the Championship Round at Martinsville.

NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Era (2022-Present)

Richard Childress Racing announced in September 2021 that Creed would move up to the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2022. In his rookie season, he scored four top-fives and thirteen top-tens, finishing fourteenth in points despite nine DNFs. In 2023, he improved to seventh in points with seven top-fives and fifteen top-tens.

On December 13, 2023, it was announced that Creed would join Joe Gibbs Racing to drive the No. 18 Toyota full-time in 2024. He finished sixth in the 2024 O’Reilly Auto Parts Series standings with sixteen top-fives and twenty-three top-tens. On August 17, 2024, he signed with Haas Factory Team to drive the No. 00 Chevrolet in 2025. He finished ninth in the 2025 final points standings, recording sixteen top-tens and eight top-fives. After fifteen runner-up finishes, Creed finally scored his first O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2026.

Driving Style and Strengths

Creed’s off-road background gives him exceptional car control, especially in wet or slick conditions where heavy throttle control is required. He is known for an aggressive driving style and the ability to recover from spins, which has earned him the fan nickname “Shelgoat.” His partnership with veteran crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz has helped him refine his approach to stock car racing.

Notable Races and Milestones

Signature moments include his 2020 Truck Series championship-clinching win at Phoenix Raceway, his 2018 ARCA championship clincher at Kansas Speedway, and his X Games Austin gold medal in Stadium Super Trucks in 2015. His first O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory at Atlanta in 2026 ended a long streak of fifteen runner-up finishes.

Family Background and Racing Lineage

Creed was born into a family with deep motorsports roots. Ortega Construction and has sponsored Creed’s off-road and NASCAR trucks. His cousin Bronsen Chiaramonte is also an off-road racer and was the LOORRS Mod Kart Rookie of the Year in 2018.

Personal Life

Creed is married to Cami Parsons, the twin sister of fellow NASCAR driver Stefan Parsons. The couple has a son named Axel, born on June 11, 2022. Outside of racing, Creed enjoys watching extreme sports and listening to country music such as Florida Georgia Line. Seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson is a family friend, and in 2020, Creed ran a tribute paint scheme honoring Johnson’s trophy truck at Darlington Raceway.

2025 Season Performance

The 2025 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series marked Sheldon Creed’s first season with Haas Factory Team in the No. 00 Chevrolet Camaro SS. After years of frustrating near-misses, Creed produced one of his strongest statistical seasons, recording sixteen top-ten finishes, eight top-fives, two runner-up results, and one pole position. He finished ninth in the final 2025 points standings.

Despite the consistency, the season was defined by Creed’s ongoing pursuit of his first series victory. By the end of 2025, he had fifteen career runner-up finishes in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, the most in series history without a win. Crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz continued to refine Creed’s race craft, and the team showed front-running pace at multiple tracks.

Creed carried that momentum into 2026, opening the new season with a 24th-place finish at Daytona before finally breaking through for his first O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The win validated the Haas Factory Team program and ended the longest active streak of runner-up finishes without a win in the series.
