The spotlight turns to Mexico City as Dale Earnhardt Jr. teams up with Daniel Suárez for NASCAR Mexico City in a thrilling doubleheader. On June 15, NASCAR makes its awaited return to Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, with Suárez and Earnhardt Jr. collaborating for a landmark Xfinity Series appearance before the inaugural Cup Series event in Mexico City.
Daniel Suárez Gears Up for a Meaningful Doubleheader
As the season’s focus shifts after NASCAR’s longest race, driver Daniel Suárez prepares for a unique challenge and personal homecoming. Known for making headlines, Suárez will compete on the 2.6-mile road circuit twice in the same weekend. On June 14, he will take the wheel in the Xfinity Series race, followed by the Cup Series main event the next day, both at the storied Mexican venue.
This two-race weekend is especially significant for Suárez, the Monterrey native, as he returns to compete at home. Longtime sponsor Quaker State will back his run in the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. Announced by Trackhouse Racing and JR Motorsports on May 27, the Mexico event represents not just a racing return, but an emotional homecoming for Suárez in front of a hometown crowd.
NASCAR’s Historic Return to Mexico City
While the Cup Series is about to make its historic debut at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, NASCAR’s Xfinity Series last visited the track from 2005 to 2008. The 2024 schedule revives this international stop, and for Suárez, the timing could not be better. He will participate in the Xfinity feature on June 14, and the following day he will compete in the No. 99 Telcel-Infinitum Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing in the Cup Series’ first race in Mexico City.

Suárez expressed his anticipation about this opportunity, citing the strong performance of JR Motorsports this season and his excitement to race the Quaker State Chevrolet in his home country. He shared his reflections on the significance of racing in Mexico after pursuing his NASCAR goals abroad for more than a decade.
“Being born and raised in Mexico is incredibly special to me. I have dreamed about racing in my home country every day since I left Mexico to chase my NASCAR dream in 2011. I appreciate everyone at Quaker State and JR Motorsports coming on board to make this a reality.”

Achievements and Support Build Momentum
The upcoming Xfinity Series event in Mexico City marks Suárez’s first race in that series since last year’s Chicago Street Race. As the only Mexican-born driver to win in the Cup Series, his victories at Sonoma in 2022 and Atlanta in 2024 have set him apart in the sport’s history. This doubleheader presents another chance to break new ground in front of passionate hometown supporters and underscores the value of community and collaboration for Suárez.
“Thank you to all my amigos who never stopped believing in me. Thank you to @JustinMarksTH for giving me an opportunity. Thank you to everyone at @TeamTrackhouse for the fast race cars. I am so lucky to be part of this team. I am so humbled and grateful. GRACIAS!!!!! 🇲🇽 pic.twitter.com/75NkyrSqBk”
