Trevor Bayne Makes Triumphant NASCAR Return at Darlington This Weekend

Trevor Bayne will step back into the spotlight with his highly anticipated Trevor Bayne NASCAR Darlington return this Saturday, driving the No. 1 Victory Junction Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Competing at the renowned Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, Bayne’s participation not only marks a personal comeback but also shines a light on meaningful work supporting children with serious illnesses.

Bayne Partners with Victory Junction and AdventHealth for Darlington Race

Bayne is set to drive for TRICON Garage, with support from LEGACY MOTOR CLUB and AdventHealth—the latter a long-standing supporter of the Petty family and Victory Junction. The truck’s paint scheme draws attention to Victory Junction, a camp in Randleman, North Carolina, created in honor of Adam Petty, who tragically passed away in a racing accident in 2000. The camp, realized by the Petty family after Adam’s passing, has since welcomed thousands of children with complex medical needs, providing them with enriching experiences in a NASCAR-themed environment.

AdventHealth played a pivotal role from the camp’s earliest days, donating the initial land for Camp Boggy Creek, which inspired Victory Junction’s mission. Over the past decade, AdventHealth has supported nearly 300 children in attending these medically safe camps, giving families respite and helping young patients find camaraderie and joy amidst their health challenges. The connection between racing and these charitable efforts permeates Bayne’s return.

“Children battling illness already spend too much of their lives in hospitals and doctors’ offices,”

Rob Deininger, CEO of AdventHealth East Florida Division

“At places like Victory Junction and Camp Boggy Creek, they get to swap IV poles for fishing poles. That joy is medicine, too — and it’s why we’re proud to share their story on Trevor’s truck this weekend.”

Journey to This Weekend: Bayne’s Racing Path and Partnership

Saturday’s event is a deeply personal return for Bayne, who last raced in the NASCAR Truck Series in October 2023 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. His first experience at Darlington dates back to September 2020, when he finished 27th in what was his Truck Series debut. That year, he completed eight races for Niece Motorsports, achieving a best finish of second place at Talladega Superspeedway after starting fifth. Over his nine career Truck Series starts, Bayne has become well-acquainted with the demands of top-level competition.

In recent years, Bayne has worked closely with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, TRICON Garage, and Toyota drivers, focusing on driver optimization programs and mentoring rising stars. His gratitude to team leaders such as Jimmie Johnson, Cal Wells, David Gilliland, and Matt Puccia underscores the collaborative effort that made his return possible.

I can’t even begin to describe how surreal it feels this weekend to be able to get the chance to get back in a truck and go racing after several years,”

“Darlington can be a little bit nerve-racking if you haven’t been in the racecar in a while. It’s one of the toughest tracks on the circuit, so I’ll have to acclimate fast and get up-to-speed. For the last two season, I’ve enjoyed great relationships with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, TRICON Garage, and Toyota plus their drivers, helping them get prepared for each race through our driver optimization programs. I’m so thankful to Jimmie Johnson, Cal Wells, David Gilliland, and Matt Puccia – all those guys worked hard to put me back in a racecar. In addition, I’m so grateful for AdventHealth as well, they are an amazing company that I’ve gotten to know over the past year. They made this possible by supporting myself and Victory Junction on the truck this weekend. I’m hopeful that we can make it count.”

The Road Ahead: What Bayne’s Return Means for NASCAR and Beyond

Bayne’s comeback carries extra weight as it coincides with efforts to publicize the story of Victory Junction and the ongoing support for children confronting serious illness. The Darlington race stands as both a sporting event and an opportunity to give voice and visibility to impactful causes—one that may inspire other NASCAR drivers, teams, and sponsors to engage with similar outreach. With AdventHealth, LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, and prominent NASCAR personalities rallying around Bayne, his return at Darlington showcases the deep connections between competition, charity, and community in motorsports.

Fans can tune in to follow Bayne’s performance in the Sober or Slammer 200 this Saturday, August 30, at 12 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN, or SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. The future will reveal whether this remarkable return becomes a launching pad for new chapters, but for now, Trevor Bayne’s presence on the track represents resilience, teamwork, and the spirit of giving back.
