Jenson Button Wins Goodwood Revival Race in Iconic Ex-Fangio Jaguar

Jenson Button wins Goodwood Revival race at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit, piloting a Jaguar C-type once owned by five-time Formula 1 champion Juan Manuel Fangio. The 2009 F1 world champion, partnering with GT racer Alex Buncombe, clinched victory at the Freddie March Memorial Trophy on Friday evening during the opening event of the weekend.

Button’s Preparation for the Iconic Event

Arriving at Goodwood with high spirits, Button expressed excitement as he prepared to drive the famous chassis XKC018 during qualifying. The Briton, sharing the car with long-time friend Alex Buncombe, emphasized the importance of ensuring everything was ready for the intense competition.

“I’m not sure. I don’t know, but at least I know the car’s prepared well – that’s the important thing,”

Jenson Button, Formula 1 World Champion. Button also appreciated the confidence of having Buncombe as his co-driver, noting their seamless teamwork.

“And the great thing is, if I don’t feel right in the car, I give it to him and he goes round really fast, so it’s perfect,”

A Historic Vehicle and Memorable Experience

Button described the thrill of racing at Goodwood, highlighting the unique atmosphere and the car’s impressive heritage.

“It’s such a cool experience coming here to Goodwood. I forget every time I walk in – it’s an amazing feeling. Then getting into this car, which is so special – ex-Fangio car – and has a lot of racing history,”

“This thing’s still on drum brakes, so we can’t forget that when we’re flying down the back straight. Very much looking forward to seeing what she can do in qualifying,”
