Chase Elliott Named Most Popular Driver for Eighth Straight Year

Chase Elliott continues to capture fans’ admiration, as he has once again been chosen as the Chase Elliott most popular driver. Elliott was recognized with the National Motorsports Press Association’s Most Popular Driver award for the eighth year in succession, an honor announced during this year’s NASCAR Awards program on Tuesday.

Fan support propels Elliott to another win

With 56% of the total votes, Elliott secured his spot at the top, supported by a dedicated fan base that outpaced contenders like Ryan Blaney, Ross Chastain, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Larson, who also ranked in the top five. The overwhelming show of support reinforces Elliott’s widespread appeal, as voting once again tipped in his favor.

“Thank you (the fans) for the votes. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to do that and support us in that way and support me in that way,”

Chase Elliott said in a statement. He expressed heartfelt appreciation for those who take the time to acknowledge his achievements and support his journey in racing.

Beyond just the award, Elliott reflected on the significance of having loyal supporters behind him, stating that seeing fans’ enthusiasm across the country remains an incredible experience each year. His acknowledgment highlights the deep connection between drivers like himself and those in the stands and at home, whose passion extends beyond the racetrack.

“I just want to make sure everyone understands that I’m forever grateful for that, whether we win the award or don’t win the award. I think I have some of the best fans in the world and really appreciate you guys supporting me and pushing us and wanting the best for our team and being there on the good days and the bad.”

Historical dominance by Elliott and Earnhardt families

Chase Elliott is not the first in his family to be honored in this way. His father, Bill Elliott, has claimed the award 16 times, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the distinction 15 times. Together, the Elliott and Earnhardt families have dominated the NMPA Most Popular Driver Award, collectively holding the recognition for 35 straight years.

Significance for fans, drivers, and NASCAR

The continued acknowledgment of drivers like Elliott, Blaney, Chastain, Hamlin, and Larson underscores NASCAR’s connection with its supporters. By maintaining a direct line from country racetracks to the national stage, the award, organized by the National Motorsports Press Association, celebrates not just individual drivers but the enduring relationship between the sport and its passionate fans. With the Elliott and Earnhardt legacies intertwined in NASCAR history, the spirit of competition and fan appreciation appears set to thrive for years to come.
