Kyle Larson’s Daughter Audrey Tackles Hockey Alongside Racing

Kyle Larson daughter hockey racing is taking center stage as Audrey Larson, already active in youth motorsports, now adds ice hockey to her list of pursuits. At just seven years old, Audrey balances Junior Sprint racing with weekly hockey practices and scrimmages, supported by Kyle Larson and his family as she steps into this new environment.

Audrey’s Competitive Drive Shines On the Track and the Ice

Both Owen and Audrey Larson, children of NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Larson, have shown a knack for competition at a young age, racing together in the Junior Sprint division. Recently, though, Audrey has decided to branch out, putting her energy into both racing and hockey, hinting at a wide-ranging athletic future.

Her father revealed in a conversation with Bob Pockrass that Audrey has just started playing hockey, attending Monday practices and Wednesday scrimmages, eagerly learning and adapting to the sport.

“But there’s actually a lot of girls in it, too. It’s really cool. She’s really competitive and likes to do everything, try everything, so it’s pretty neat. And she enjoys going out there and roughing some kids up and all that,”

Larson narrated.

From Inspiration to the Ice Rink

The origins of Audrey’s interest in hockey can be traced to a family movie night a couple of years ago. Watching ‘The Mighty Ducks’ sparked her passion for the sport, leading her parents to get her roller blades and let her try skating.

“No hockey in my background. So she watched ‘The Mighty Ducks’ a couple years ago. And so then we got her roller blades and all that. She’s really good at skating, I feel like, for her age and size.”

Support and encouragement also came from family friends, particularly Greg Fornelli, who mentioned his own son played hockey, helping to further spark Audrey’s curiosity. Soon, she was suited up with gear and hitting the rink.

Kyle Larson Embraces the Challenge of Being a Hockey Dad

Despite his extensive experience as a racer, Kyle Larson admitted being out of his depth in this new setting. Amid the hustle of practices, he shared the challenge of navigating unfamiliar territory as he supports his daughter.

“I have no clue what to even talk to her about when she gets in the car,”

Kyle Larson confessed, highlighting the learning process for both Audrey and himself.

Even without experience in hockey, Larson is proud to see Audrey dive into the sport with such enthusiasm. He has long been a fan from the stands, but now, as a self-described hockey dad, he watches his daughter embrace competition not only on the track but also on the ice.

The Expanding World of Young Competition

For the Larson family, watching Audrey balance hockey and racing reflects a commitment to encouraging their children’s interests, whether those are familiar or completely new. The experience has reinforced that drive and competitiveness can flourish in multiple arenas, and for Audrey, the thrill of both racing and hockey offers an exciting path forward. As she continues to learn and compete, her journey is sure to inspire not only those who follow stock car racing, but also anyone cheering for the next generation of athletes poised to take on fresh challenges.
