Austin Hill Claims Daytona Pole, Leads RCR Front Row Sweep

Austin Hill secured the Austin Hill Daytona pole on Saturday, leading a front row sweep for Richard Childress Racing at Daytona International Speedway heading into the season-opening NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race. Jesse Love, last year’s series champion and the previous winner at this event, will join Hill at the front of the grid.

RCR Dominates Daytona Qualifying

Hill’s achievement marks his third pole at Daytona, as he aims for a fourth victory at the famed track. Richard Childress Racing showed strength, locking out the top two positions with Love set to start alongside Hill. Their performance sets a firm tone for both the team and the drivers at the beginning of the new racing season.

Top Performers and Notable Qualifiers

Completing the top five qualifiers behind Hill and Love were Sam Mayer, William Sawalich, and Sheldon Creed. Corey Day, Rajah Caruth, Patrick Staropoli, Taylor Gray, and Ryan Sieg rounded out positions six through ten, highlighting a competitive field that will face off in Sunday’s main event.

Drivers Facing Challenges in Qualifying

Garrett Smithley, David Starr, Anthony Alfredo, and Joey Gase were unable to qualify for the event. However, Alfredo will ultimately participate after securing a place in Alpha Prime Racing’s No. 4 car, replacing Caesar Bacarella following a deal made post-qualifying. In another setback, Carson Ware experienced engine failure during his warmup lap and will start from last place, representing Barrett-Cope Racing in the No. 30 entry.

Upcoming Race Details and Implications

The season officially opens with the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Daytona International Speedway on February 14, with broadcast coverage beginning at 4 p.m. ET on The CW. With key drivers like Austin Hill and Jesse Love leading the field and significant lineup changes ahead of the green flag, the stage is set for an exciting start to the season, promising fierce competition among a talented roster of racers and teams.
