Austin Hill showcased his dominance yet again, claiming victory at Daytona International Speedway in a heart-pounding finish during Saturday’s United Rentals 300. This marked Hill’s fourth Austin Hill Daytona victory in five seasons in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series opener, thrilling fans at the iconic superspeedway.
Competitive racing on Daytona’s storied 2.5-mile track set the stage for a suspenseful conclusion, with the final result determined in the last moments. Hill started from pole position, led a race-best 78 of 120 laps, and withstood multiple late-race challenges, eventually edging out Justin Allgaier by a razor-thin margin of 0.081 seconds.
Hill’s Commanding Performance and Team Achievement
Despite impressive control for much of the race, Austin Hill faced moments of uncertainty after a critical mid-race green flag pit stop. He briefly slipped back to 12th place but managed a strong recovery thanks to new tires and precise moves through the frantic pack. Hill’s efforts capped off the fifth consecutive win at Daytona for Richard Childress Racing, equaling a feat achieved by Dale Earnhardt Inc. in the early 1990s, and marking his own 15th career victory—11 of those coming on drafting tracks like Daytona.
“Just shows how good this team is,”
Hill remarked, highlighting his crew’s skill in adapting to challenges such as late pit stops.

“It was a really tough decision to go from being 14th or wherever it was we re-started. But it just goes to show how good this team was. We had that re-start and no one was going middle, so I was like, ‘sure I’ll take it.’ Drove right up through there.”

During the thrilling final restart with just two laps to go, Hill nearly lost his advantage but managed a crucial block on Allgaier, ensuring his path to the checkered flag.
Emotional Reflections on Daytona Dominance
Hill continued to express his appreciation for the Florida track and the exhilaration that comes with winning at Daytona. Sweeping both stage wins and leading the most laps further cemented his weekend dominance.
“Daytona has just been so good to me,”
Hill shared, acknowledging his special relationship with the superspeedway.
“I love this place and it’s always fun to win.”

Finishing Order and Driver Insights
Following closely behind Hill were RSS Racing’s owner-driver Ryan Sieg in third and Jordan Anderson Racing’s Jordan Anderson in fourth, despite both drivers overcoming incidents or adversity during the race. Allgaier’s JR Motorsports teammate Sammy Smith rounded out the top five, with Ryan Ellis, Carson Kvapil, Blaine Perkins, Hill’s teammate Jesse Love, and Rajah Caruth completing the top ten.
Jesse Love was especially active in the closing laps, leading 27 laps overall but ultimately finishing ninth after becoming entangled in the heated closing action. Love shared reflective thoughts on his learning experience from the race:
“At the end I feel for my guys,”
said Love.
“They want to be where that 21 group [Hill] is. I’m still a step behind Austin. He’s so great at this craft. I feel like he’s a little more patient than I am right now, and I think that’s what my learning lesson is after tonight.”
– Jesse Love, Driver
“I think I just wasn’t patient enough when I really needed to be, you know, taking Sammy three wide probably wasn’t the right move there. Made some other moves along the way in waning laps that I could have done about. I’ll look back at it and learn from it, and next week is a similar style of flow of things. I’ll try to take this learning lesson and bring that to Georgia.”

Looking Ahead to Atlanta
The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series now shifts to Atlanta’s EchoPark Speedway for the Bennett Transportation & Logistics 250. Austin Hill, a Georgia native and defending winner at his home track, will aim to add to his impressive tally of five wins in the past seven races at Atlanta. The stage is set for another electrifying contest, as drivers and teams take with them their Daytona lessons and set their sights on continued success throughout the season.
