Nick Sanchez delivered an impressive performance for Ford Racing at the NOAPS event in Atlanta, capturing third place in a race that saw him fight from deep in the starting field. Making only his second run with the AM Racing team, Sanchez’s third place finish demonstrated both resilience and strategic skill, securing Ford a strong result after a challenging outing at Daytona.
Sanchez Makes Impact After Daytona Disappointment
Sanchez, driving the No. 25 Paynuity/Travel Curious Ford Mustang Dark Horse, rebounded from earlier setbacks in the season. The previous race at Daytona ended with frustration despite showing speed, but this time in Atlanta, the combination of team experience and a strong downforce package set the stage for a dramatic ascent through the field. Facing the challenge of minimal drafting support on track, Sanchez persevered with determination, bringing his car home inside the top three.
“Just a lot of grit. I have a lot of experience at this track, but the Paynuity/Travel Curious Ford Mustang was really good. It turns out that our downforce package that we brought paid dividends in the race. I’m really just proud of the team. We had a really rough go at Daytona. We had a really fast car, but nothing to show for it, so I’m glad we could finish P3 tonight in only our second race together. I know it’s only gonna get better from here, so it’s really promising. I’m thankful for everyone at Ford Racing and everyone at AM Racing for all they do.”

Strong Drive From the Back Sets the Tone
Sanchez’s effort was even more remarkable given he began the race in 28th position. By the close of the first stage, he had surged up to eighth place in his Mustang, showing early signs that he would be a contender for a podium finish. That jump forward was not unexpected for Sanchez, who expressed confidence in his car’s capabilities and used the early laps to assess strategy for the final push.
“Yeah. I know this sounds a little brash, but I expected to get stage points in stage one, just from what we know about the race car and what it could do. It wasn’t really a surprise there. I was just really trying to learn about the car and see what runs it was able to take, and it really set me up for the end of the race and my strategy going forward.”

Strategic Decisions Shape Final Results
In the final laps, Sanchez pushed forward alongside top competitors, challenging for the lead after a daring drive through the center of the field. Navigating a tight contest in the closing moments, he found himself in position to potentially fight for first, but opted for a measured approach as the race concluded.
“Ideally, I would have liked to go for the lead on the 32 and take it, but my car just didn’t lead well, so I figured at the end of the day it was better to take my chances and see what happened if I just stayed behind him and try to time a run to where I had one corner to clear and there wasn’t any momentum to pass me back, but it was a little bit on me there at the end. I missed a really late block off of four, but I think that’s kind of what sealed my fate to not win the race.”

Significance and What Lies Ahead
Nick Sanchez’s third place finish in Atlanta offers a clear indicator of progress for Ford Racing and AM Racing as they build momentum in the series, especially after setbacks at Daytona. The performance also underscores the importance of teamwork and adaptability in the NOAPS environment, as teams like Jordan Anderson Racing and Toyota Racing continue to shape the competitive landscape. As the season unfolds, Sanchez’s determination and tactical decisions are likely to strengthen his position as a serious contender, while teams and fans look ahead to the next event at EchoPark Speedway.
