Alex Labbé (born April 29, 1993) is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver. He competes part-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, driving the No. 0 Chevrolet Camaro SS for SS-Green Light Racing with BRK Racing, and has also driven the No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro SS for DGM Racing with Jesse Iwuji Motorsports. He also races part-time in the NASCAR Canada Series behind the wheel of the No. 36 Chevrolet for LL Motorsports. Labbé is best known as the 2017 NASCAR Pinty’s Series champion.
Early Life and Background
Alex Labbé was born on April 29, 1993, in Saint-Albert, Quebec, Canada. Growing up in the province of Quebec, he was surrounded by a vibrant short-track racing culture that helped shape his early interest in motorsports. The regional stock car scene in Quebec provided a natural starting point for a young driver with ambitions of moving up the ladder.
Labbé began his racing career in Quebec’s grassroots divisions, where he quickly established himself as a standout talent. In 2009, he captured both the rookie of the year honors and the championship of Quebec’s Super Truck Series. He followed that up by being named rookie of the year in Quebec’s ACT Series in 2010, signals of a promising career ahead.
Path to NASCAR
Labbé’s progression through the Quebec racing ranks continued steadily. In 2013, he finished as the vice-champion in Quebec’s ACT Series, and the following year, in 2014, he became the youngest champion of that series at the age of 21. During that same 2014 season, he also picked up his first two wins in the PASS North Series, expanding his footprint beyond Quebec.
His transition to NASCAR’s national stage began in 2012 with his debut in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Circuit ICAR, where he finished sixth. Over the next several seasons, Labbé balanced part-time national schedules with regional competition, building the experience that would eventually lead him south to the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the Craftsman Truck Series.
Alex Labbé Career
Early Career (2012-2015)
Labbé made his first start in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2012 at Circuit ICAR, finishing sixth and announcing his arrival on the series. He continued to run sporadically with his family team while gradually forming a partnership with Dave Jacombs. In 2014, at Autodrome Saint-Eustache, Labbé scored a pole in his first start with Jacombs, though suspension problems forced him out of the race early.
Running part-time again in 2015, Labbé earned another pole, this time at Autodrome Chaudière, and finished a career-high second. These early years laid the foundation for what would become a championship-caliber effort in the Canadian series.
NASCAR Canada Series Breakthrough (2016-2017)
In 2016, Labbé drove for Go Fas Racing, running the full schedule for the first time in the No. 32 Can-Am Ford. He grabbed four poles and won what many consider one of the best races in Pinty’s Series history, edging Cayden Lapcevich by just over three-tenths of a second at Autodrome Chaudière. He finished seventh in championship points that season.
Labbé returned to the No. 32 in 2017 and delivered his crowning achievement: the NASCAR Pinty’s Series championship. His first career series win had come at the 2016 CRS Express 300 at Chaudière, and his most recent victory during the championship run came at the 2017 Lucas Oil 250 at St-Eustache. Across his Canada Series career, he has recorded six wins, 54 top-ten finishes, and 10 poles.
NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Breakthrough (2016-Present)
Labbé made his Xfinity Series debut at Phoenix International Raceway in November 2016, driving the No. 90 Chevrolet Camaro for King Autosport, and finished 23rd. He made a second start at Texas Motor Speedway in 2017 with the same team. In 2018, he partnered with DGM Racing to drive the No. 36 Camaro full-time in the Xfinity Series.
He returned for a limited schedule in the No. 90 car the following year and finished sixth at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval in September. In 2020, he ran the No. 36 for the majority of races, though an August penalty for driving an Xfinity car in a Sports Car Club of America practice session at the Daytona Road Course led to a 75-point deduction and a $50,000 fine for the team, both of which were later rescinded on appeal. He posted a full season in the No. 36 in 2021, finishing nineteenth in points with three top tens.
Since 2022, Labbé has balanced drives across multiple teams, including DGM Racing, RSS Racing, Emerling-Gase Motorsports, and SS-Green Light Racing. His best Xfinity Series finish remains fourteenth in 2020, and he has accumulated 13 top-ten finishes at the national level without a victory.
SS-Green Light Racing Era (2023-Present)
Beginning in 2023, Labbé expanded his presence with SS-Green Light Racing while continuing to drive the No. 0 and No. 91 entries in select events. The arrangement has allowed him to remain competitive on a part-time basis while pursuing opportunities across multiple teams and manufacturers within the series.
In 2025, he has continued to compete part-time across both the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the NASCAR Canada Series. His results reflect the challenges of balancing limited schedules, but his experience and track craft keep him a respected presence in the garage.
Driving Style and Strengths
Labbé’s track craft was forged on Quebec’s short tracks, where aggressive passing and precise car control are essential. He has shown strength on road courses and intermediate ovals, and his ability to adapt to different teams and equipment packages has been a defining trait throughout his national-series career.
Notable Races and Milestones
Among Labbé’s signature moments are his 2017 Pinty’s Series championship, his thrilling 2016 win at Autodrome Chaudière over Cayden Lapcevich, and his sixth-place run at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval in 2019. His 2014 ACT Series title made him the youngest champion in the history of that Quebec series.
