Racing career
Driving career
Jeff Hensley started his racing adventure when he was just 18. He raced on short tracks in places like Virginia and North Carolina. By 1982, Jeff decided to join a newer racing league called the Busch Grand National Series. He raced in two cars, No. 2 and No. 63, for a team his family owned.
In his very first year, he raced in ten events and did pretty well. He finished in the top ten five times! Because he raced only part of the season, he ended up in the 20th spot overall. The next year, he was busier, racing in twenty-eight out of the thirty-five races. He finished in the top ten nine times and climbed up to the tenth spot in the rankings.
However, in 1984, even though he had a personal best by ranking eighth overall, he only had seven top-ten finishes. 1985 was a tougher year for Jeff. He raced in the No. 2 Flute’s Sheetmetal car and got into the top ten only three times. After that year, he decided it was time to hang up his racing gloves and retired from driving. But, he had made his mark in the racing world!

But 2022 brought a twist. Jeff planned to work on Brett Moffitt’s No. 02 car for Our Motorsports in the Xfinity Series. This was special because it would have been his first time in this role since 2001. But, he didn’t stay with Our Motorsports for long. He went back to ThorSport, now overseeing Matt Crafton’s No. 88 truck. Yet, he switched again, going back to GMS for the No. 23 truck, now driven by Enfinger.
