Chevrolet Dominance: Three-Peat Triumph in NASCAR’s Grand Stage!

Chevrolet Dominance: At the onset of the Round of Eight elimination race at Martinsville Speedway, Chevrolet clinched the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Manufacturer Championship, marking their third consecutive win and the 42nd overall in NASCAR’s premier series.

Chevrolet’s NASCAR legacy began in 1958 with their first manufacturer championship, followed by an impressive streak of 13 consecutive titles between 2003 and 2015. Their 42 NASCAR Cup Series manufacturer championships are coupled with 850 victories and 33 driver championships, solidifying Chevrolet’s position as the most successful manufacturer in NASCAR history.

This achievement completed a clean sweep for Chevrolet across the NASCAR national ranks. The manufacturer had previously secured its 11th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Manufacturer Championship and the 25th Bill France Performance Cup in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Remarkably, this marked Chevrolet’s fifth time sweeping all three manufacturer championship titles in the NASCAR national series, having accomplished this feat in 2012, 2005, 1998, and 1996.

Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. Vice President of Performance and Motorsports, expressed Chevrolet’s honor, attributing the victory to the exceptional teamwork among Chevrolet drivers, crew chiefs, and teams throughout the season. The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season began on a high note for Chevrolet with the Camaro ZL1 securing victory in the first four races, a feat unseen since 2001. Notably, seven drivers from five different Chevrolet teams contributed to the 17 wins in 34 races, with William Byron leading the series with six wins. Other notable drivers include Kyle Larson with four wins, Kyle Busch with three wins, and several others adding to Chevrolet’s points total, ultimately leading to the championship title.

Megan Brobeck, GM Racing Program Manager for the NASCAR Cup Series, commended the dedication and cooperation among Chevrolet’s teams and engineers, underscoring their collective efforts that resulted in this significant accomplishment. Heading into Martinsville Speedway, two Chevrolet drivers, former series champion Kyle Larson and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron, advanced to the Round of Eight. Larson had already secured a spot in the Championship Four with his victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, while Byron maintained a 30-point advantage over the playoff cutline, keeping his title hopes alive.

The season’s climax will unfold at Phoenix Raceway, where the one-mile Arizona tri-oval will determine the champions across all three NASCAR national series. Stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.
