This significant recognition was awarded to Pocono Raceway in honor of its stellar performance during the July 2023 NASCAR Cup race weekend.

An independent study conducted in 2014 by East Stroudsburg University revealed the significant economic influence Pocono Raceway has on the Poconos, valuing it at $257.5 million annually, which amounts to $308.5 million in 2022 currency.
The July event was particularly exceptional, attracting the largest crowd since 2010. May explained, We filled out our grandstands, we sold out our suites, we sold out all of our camping spots. As our operations team joked, We couldnt fit another person, car, or RV on our property.

Looking ahead, NASCAR is set to return to Pocono Raceway from July 12 to 14, 2024, promising another spectacular event in northeast Pennsylvania. As Ben May expressed, Our goal here is to continue to provide a spectacular event in northeast Pennsylvania, bring in the tourism, bring the folks from out of state that come to visit the raceway and really just repeat our success.
Chris Barrett echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the significant value the raceway brings to the Pocono Mountains and the state as a whole. He concluded, Its a huge plus for the destination, for everybody who lives here as well, from a quality-of-life standpoint, to have that type of attraction in their backyard. But for the whole state, and for the Pocono Mountains, its a win.”
