Chase Elliott Diverse Journey: Tracing Roots and Racing Ambitions

Chase Elliott Diverse Journey: Chase Elliott, a prominent figure in NASCAR, has continually made headlines, from clinching his inaugural Cup Series championship in 2020 to securing the Most Popular Driver award for an impressive sixth consecutive year in 2023.

Unveiling the origins of his racing journey, Elliott recently shared intriguing insights on The Pure Athlete podcast, shedding light on his formative years and the trail that led to his esteemed racing career.

Born into the lineage of racing legend Bill Elliott, Chase Elliott’s affinity for sports emerged during his early years. However, a pivotal moment in his pursuit arrived when his family relocated from Georgia to Colorado, coinciding with his father’s decision to step away from full-time racing.

“At around 6 or 7, my family ventured out west, and that’s where it all began,” recalled Elliott. “I had just started karting back home. Moving out west felt like the start of my real childhood; diving into sports, beginning to grasp things better.”

Reflecting on those years, Elliott reminisced, “Racing in Colorado was an absolute blast. The region embraced an outdoor lifestyle; it was all about being outdoors and active. The racing scene in Denver and the western part of Colorado was vibrant. Those were incredibly enjoyable years.”

However, despite the thrill, Elliott’s pursuit of racing reached a juncture. “As I got more serious about racing, it became apparent that Colorado wasn’t the place to chase that dream,” explained Elliott. There was little competitive racing there, especially for someone aiming for NASCAR. It was then that we decided to head back to Georgia.”

Returning to his roots proved pivotal. “Moving back to Georgia marked a turning point,” shared Elliott. “That’s when racing became more than just a hobby. Racing consumed my weekends; it became a full-time commitment from middle school and has been ever since.”

Elliott’s unique journey showcases a childhood shaped by diverse geographical influences, eventually leading him back to Georgia, where his racing ambitions truly took flight.
